Rules Q&A
- Q: When does the effect of such regions take effect and end. Ex. Moat, Temple of new Tao, Shadowlands Marsh. Thanks Again
A: These are continuous modifiers. They apply as long as their conditions are met and end the moment they are no longer met or the card creating them leaves play. Jeff Alexander, "post for 3 April 2003", 4 Apr 2003 - Q: 3.) With regards to the "memory" of cards. Recently it was posted that, in a duel, if a personality with 2 chi was targeted with Uncertainty then challenged with a duel, the remaining -1 chi deduction would carry over to his/her first focus, meaning that if the personality was 1 chi upon entering the duel, focused a 4, the acutal chi + focus value for the personality would be 3. If that is true, would the same apply to personalites at a battle at a Shadowland's Marsh?
A: Absolutely. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 May 2002", 30 May 2002 - Q: Meaning, say if Akodo Tadenori attacked a province with the Shadowlands Marsh on it, he would orginially be 0F, as usual. The attack chooses (after the defender passes) to tactician a 4. Would Tadenori's force be 4, or would it be 2, as the card "remembers" the deduction?
A: It's not a memory so much as it is basic math. 0 minus 2 plus 4 equals 2. Remember, you only set values to a lower limit of 0 after all your math is done. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 May 2002", 30 May 2002 - Q: [I]f Akodo Tadenori attacked a province with the Shadowlands Marsh on it, he would orginially be 0F, as usual. A: See Dark Allies rulebook, pages 31 (rule), 32 (example in bold): 2. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 May 2002", 28 May 2002 - Q: Shadowlands Marsh Each non-shadowlands Personality and non-shadowlands Follower has -2F while in battle at this Province.
Yamaso no Oni Cards in the attacking army cannot gain Force bonuses during battle at this Province.
If the Defender plays Test of Might, can the attacking Personality Focus, or would that constitue a Force bonus and have to strike immediatly?
A: It's still legal to Focus. It would simply not raise his Force. He's *probably* going to just strike, but he's not *forced* to. Jeff Alexander, "post for 22 March 2002", 23 Mar 2002
