Rules Q&A
- Q: Shiba Aikune Phoenix Clan Samurai . Experienced . Unique Battle: Once per battle, gain a Force bonus equal to the number of other Samurai in this army, or the number of Shugenja in this army, whichever is less.
If I read it like this I'd say he wouldn't get any force bonus if there arent any samurai or shugenja in the battle. But there was a discussion about this once and I remember it vaguely and now i'm in doubt. If he was in a battle with only other samurai would he get a force bonus? (that is higher than 0)
A: He would get a Force bonus of 0, since that's the number of shugenja in his army (which, in this example, is going to be less than the number of other samurai in his army). Jeff Alexander, "post for 4 February 2002", 5 Feb 2002 - Q: Question:
Now, obviously, in order to cancel an action targetting my shugenja I must have the Towers unbowed. However, when it also says:
Reaction: When an action targets one of your Samurai, bow one of your Shugenja Personalities to cancel it.
So, let's assume I'm being attacked by some guys on the opponents turn. And I have Shiba Aikune and Isawa Taeruko guarding, the towers are bowed. If one of the bad guys throws refugees on Aikune, can I bow Taeruko to cancel it? or does my stronghold need to be unbowed in order to use that ability as well?
A: The Towers of the Asako must be unbowed to use either of its Reactions. Jeff Alexander, "post for 15 January 2002", 16 Jan 2002 - Q: What If I target Shiba Aikune Exp. 3 while he's alone?
A: Same thing. The trait is not optional, and Furious Assault looks for an effect, not a decision. Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault vs. Moto Chagatai/Shiba Aikune", 24 Mar 2008 - Q: Shiba Aikune - exp 3: If i use the special ability and destroy Houhou i can bring him back?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "I doubt about Shiba Aikune versus Houhou", 27 May 2007 - Q: If he still Honored, Houhou has a honorably dead?
