Rules Q&A
- Q: does this mean that the bolded text on "Shiba Daizan" below is redundant text since you can react from the gravyard without it?
A: Not redundant. It's another way of accomplishing the same thing, making an exception to the general rule. Zen Faulkes, "even if is dead? questions", 18 Mar 2008 - Q: During my Action Phase, I control one Shiba Daizan whom my opponent targets with Brash Hero: if I declare an attack, I must assign Daizan. Am I compelled to declare an attack or is my Attack Phase still optional this turn ?
Thanks.
A: Brash Hero only requires that if it is legal to assign the target, you assign him. It does not require you to make any optional decisions to create or enter an Attack Phase. You don't have to choose to have the Attack Phase of your turn, nor do you have to play any Action or Trait you might have that creates an Attack Phase. Martin Lund, "Brash Hero and Attack Phase", 19 Nov 2007 - Q: so if shiba daizan is dead, can i use his ability to negate the shugenja's destruction in battles? i would like clarification on 'even if daizan is dead' part. the way i see daizan working is 'even if he is dead, he still can protect the shugenja from dying at any battlefield' just because he has that small but important part of 'even if Daizan is dead
Shiba Daizan Text Phoenix Clan • Samurai • Hero • Yojimbo Reaction: Before another player's action destroys one of your Shugenja in your home or at Daizan's battlefield, even if Daizan is dead, remove him from the game: Negate the Shugenja's destruction.
A: If Daizan is dead, he is not at a battlefield, and can only negate destructions in your home. Chris Fuchs, "shiba daizan", 26 Jul 2007 - Q: Does a player lose honor after removing Daizan from play which was targetet by a Saya before?
A: Mod request: Please include Experience levels when there is more than one version of a card. Thanks! Zen Faulkes, "Bayushi Saya + Shiba Daizan", 30 May 2007 - Q: Card text :
Fire Open: Bow this Shugenja unless he has the Fire keyword: You may remove an honorably dead Personality you own from the game. Target a face-up Personality in one of your provinces. Reduce his Gold Cost by the Gold Cost of any Personality you removed. Bring the target into play (paying all costs).
Here is the question : does the second bold part refers only to personnality removed with the first one?
May i reduce the gold cost by the Gold Cost of any Personality removed previously? eg : use of Tempered resurrection the previous turn (removing a dead personnality) or Shiba Daizan like ability.
A: It applies only to the personality removed by itself. Chris Fuchs, "Tempered Resurrection", 25 May 2007 - Q: Can Shiba Daizan's reaction save a shugenja in a battlefield even if Daizan is dead?
Thanks.
A: No.
If Daizan is dead, he is not at a battlefield, and thus no Shugenja are at a battlefield with him. Chris Fuchs, "Shiba Daizan", 25 May 2007
