Rules Q&A
- Q: Relevant Texts:
Shiba Ningen exp: Elemental Rection: Once per turn, after you draw a Fate card, discard that card to draw a Fate card.
Shrine to Fukurokujin: Bow Shrine to Fukurokujin and one of your Personalities to draw a card. Show the card to your opponants; if its Focus value is greater than or equal to the Personality's printed Chi, discard it.
Situation: I bow someone with 4 Chi to draw a card from Fukurokujin. I see the Focus Value of the card is 4. Can Ningen react immediately after the draw (There is a period between 'draw a card' and 'Show the card to your opponants') to discard that card and draw another?
A: Not only can he, he has to react then if he reacts at all. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 6 Feb. 2004", 7 Feb 2004 - Q: I use Shrine to Fukurokojin with a 3 chi pesonality and draw a 4 focus value card. Can I use Shiba Ningen Exp. ability to discard the drawn card and redraw?
A: If the card is not discarded by the Shrine's effect. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 25 June 2003", 26 Jun 2003 - Q: I have Shiba Ningen Exp. with Teeth of Osano-Wo and Firestorm Legion. My question regard the Forestorm Legion, as both a follower and a shugenja with a ranged attack, does Doji Akiko's trait assist in the ranged attack for the Legion.
A: No. She gives a bonus "for purposes of casting Spells and Kihos", not "while casting Spells and Kihos". Ningen's Chi is not elevated for any other purpose. Jeff Alexander, "post for 23 September 2002", 25 Sep 2002 - Q: If the Shrine to Fukurokujin targets a personality with 1 Chi, and I draw a card with 1 or higher Focus Value, may I react with (Experienced Shiba) Ningen to discard that card and draw another card(?)
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Shiba Ningen experienced and Shrine to Fukurokujin", 15 Jul 2007
