Rules Q&A
- Q: Just to make shure, if I try a flee the darkness that gets canceled with Fall on your kness, and the flee would be my third kiho, I can't put the ring of air in play and Shiba Yoma and Reichin's Helm does not get any bonus.
A: Correct. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 May 2004", 27 May 2004 - Q: I'm playing Phoenix, using Morning Glory Castle. I have a Shiba Yoma with an experienced version overlayed on top of him. The Shiba Yoma has been hit with a Sinister Transformation so he's 5 force 4 chi. Unfortunately, some unruly peasants rise up and smoke my man Yoma. He's dead. Here's where it gets a bit strange. a turn later I bring the inexperienced Yoma back into a province, and then into play. So what is his force and chi, and why?
A: The inexperienced Yoma cannot be shuffled back into the deck (Gold Edition rulebook, pg, 37). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 22 September 2003", 22 Sep 2003 - Q: Reading this tells us that a kiho which was canceled was never attempted in the first place. So Yoma gets NO bonus.
However, if you read the 4th paragraph on the same page: "If a card or action is canceled after it has already produced some effects, do not undo those effects."
Yoma does get to keep his bonus.
A: Sorry. This rule is irrelevant. Yoma's bonus is not an effect of the kiho. Jeff Alexander, "post for 27 August 2002", 28 Aug 2002 - Q: We were playing a game the other day and my opponent used a kiho in a battle containing Shiba Yoma. I cancelled the kiho, but we weren't sure if Shiba Yoma kept the +1/+1 anyway as he got the bonus *before* the kiho was cast and therefore didn't care if it was cancelled or not. What's the ruling?
A: If it's canceled, it wasn't cast. No bonus. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 August 2002", 27 Aug 2002
