Rules Q&A
- Q: If you target Shikibu no Oni with bestial rage to give a nonhuman personality 8 +1 Frenzy tokens. Can you use Shikibu's trait to kill some other personality in play with out killing Shikibu no Oni?
Fu
A: No, because in order to pay the cost of "destroy one of your Personalities", the Personality you choose must actually be destroyed. Alex Jones, "Shikibu no Oni and Bestial Rage", 27 Jan 2011 - Q: Just wanted to ask... what am I missing?
The current ruling on how Deflection works against tokens generated by Isawa Fusota seem to indicate that the previous ruling on Shikibu no Oni and Seiden Sanzo might be at odds with the idea of the resolution of an action. As I understand it, Shikibu ignores the destruction effect of Seiden Sanzo because he is not facing a destruction effect as the action resolves, but it is delayed. But if a targeting still occurs for one, and counts as an action... wouldn;t the destruction effect also count as a resolution of a created delayed action?
A: What rulings are you talking about?
Mod nudge: When referring to old rulings, please include relevant links to those rulings. We need context to have a hope of answering things correctly. Thanks! Zen Faulkes, "Fusota and Shikibu confusion?", 26 Sep 2009 - Q: Shikibu + Wedge= If I have another personality with Shikibu at RESOLUTION can I remove him from play and not destroy Shikibu?
A: By the time Wedge is destroying Shikibu no Oni, units in the battle have gone home (http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#Final_Steps), so anything in home works. Zen Faulkes, "Shikibu no Oni Exp. questions", 21 May 2009 - Q: Shikibu + Seiden Sanzo= Seiden Sanzo says in the last sentence. "Destroy him at the start of your next Dynasty Phase." If I have another presonality in my home can I remove him from play and not destroy Shikibu?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Shikibu no Oni Exp. questions", 21 May 2009 - Q: If he is the only one in his army must I remove him? Can I choose not to activate the trait (due to the colon)?
A: Yes, if Shikibu no Oni Exp is the only Personality at his own location when his trait triggers, you must remove him from the game.
No, the colon does not indicate that you have a choice in regards to a Triggered trait.

All other effects of triggered traits are not optional – they must happen if the trigger occurs." Brook Cunningham, "Shikibu no Oni XP", 7 Nov 2008
