Rules Q&A
- Q: Does Bane of the Bastard target ALL of the cards face up, or any number you choose?
A: "Target any number..." (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 14 November 2003", 14 Nov 2003 - Q: 2. An event is revealed in one of my provinces. Before it starts resolving, I play The Time is Now, which allows me to take an Open action before the event resolves. I play Bane of the Bastard, to flip the event to the bottom of my deck and replace it with another card. Does the event resolve?
A: No. You play The Time is Now as the Event is revealed. If you remove it from the province as part of your Open action, there is no longer an Event to be resolved in your province. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for July 15th, 2003", 15 Jul 2003 - Q: 2c. I do the abovementioned in my fourth province. I flush all four cards and replace them with Bane of the Bastard. An event pops up in my first province. Does that resolve?
A: No. As you flip your provinces from left to right, you are also resolving Events that happen to be sitting in those provinces. If an Event card is put into a province after it has been revealed during your Events phase, it just sits there until the next time you reveal that province. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for July 15th, 2003", 15 Jul 2003 - Q: Can I use Bane of the Bastard to target any number of face-up regions in an opposing player's provinces (providing he's using Kaneka as his Wind) to put them at the bottom of his Dynasty deck? Also, does it matter if the regions are attached or not when using this action?
A: The second question is more important than the latter, because that answer is, "Yes." Bane of the Bastard looks for cards in Provinces, not attached to Provinces. Regions in play won't be affected. Zen Faulkes, "Bane of the Bastard vs Face-up Regions", 14 Mar 2005 - Q: Situation 1: Bane of the Bastard is targeting a face-up ninja in one of my provinces.
Situation 2: Moshi Hinome wants to steal a dead Yogo Reiko with her raid ability.
Can either of these actions be stopped with the House of the Spring Chrysanthemum?
A: The following ruling is tentative. Zen Faulkes, "What can House of the Spring Chrysanthemum cancel?", 14 Mar 2005 - Q: Bane of the Bastard is targeting a face-up ninja in one of my provinces.
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "What can House of the Spring Chrysanthemum cancel?", 14 Mar 2005
