• Q: If I attack with a naval personality and Yamauchi, and the defender defends with a non-naval personality, can I use the naval reaction to use Yamauchi's ability with my naval personality performing it?
  A: No. Not unless he somehow gets the Naval keyword. I've added some emphasis to the description of the ability.
  http://rules.l5r.com/CE_The_Player#Player_abilities: "Reaction: After engaging, once per battle, if you are the Attacker and your current army has more Naval cards than the side opposing it, target your Naval Personality: You have the first opportunity to take a Battle action, which must be performed by the targeted Personality."

  Relevant Card Text:
  Arrows Do Not Falter Focus Effect: If your Personality in this duel is the challenged, and has a base Ranged Attack ability, destroy a Follower, or Personality without Followers, with 4 or lower Force in the challenger's unit. Lose 3 Honor.
  Shinjo Yamauchi Battle: Target your unbowed Personality or Follower, and bow it unless you are a defending player: Ranged Attack with strength equal to its Force.
  A: Abilities that create Ranged Attacks of various strength are still Ranged Attack abilities.
  You may activate the Focus Effect of Arrows do not Falter if you focus it in a duel where Shinjo Yamauchi is the challenged personality.
