Rules Q&A
- Q: If my opponent uses kyuden bayushi and bows a Scorp as the cost of discarding the favor to, by example, Gozoku one of my peeps, can I bow one of my personalities to gain the favor?
A: Yes. Anything that triggers off the discarding of the Imperial Favor will trigger off of using Political Adjunct, Commanding Favor or Kyuden Bayushi in the stead of actually discarding the Favor. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 and 6 September 2004", 8 Sep 2004 - Q: If the answer to the first question is yes, can I bow the peep my opponent is trying to gozoku, since they pick the target before paying cost? Like, my opponent targets my Yoritomo Toto, can i react by Toto bowing to the ability of A Champion's Heart to gain the favor?
A: Indeed you may. Gozoku Sensei has not resolved any effects at this point, so your Personality has not been bowed and you can certainly bow him to pay the cost of a Reaction to the discarding of the Imperial Favor. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 and 6 September 2004", 8 Sep 2004 - Q: If a Champion's Heart has resolved does the KB stronghold ability trigger its effect? Does bowing a Scorpion Clan peep to pay the cost of discarding the favor the same as actully discarding the favor?
A: Yes. Martin Lund, "Rules for 31 August 2004", 3 Sep 2004 - Q: Yes, we prefer our official rules answers to be *completely* short and cryptic, thank you.
A: Hey!
Okay, I'll own up to "short," but "cryptic"? Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 13 November 2003", 13 Nov 2003 - Q: is discarding the favor the same as using the favor?
A: Using is a case of discarding, but discarding may not be using. A few cards force the Favor to be discarded without effect). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 November 2003", 13 Nov 2003 - Q: We have someone answering rules questions here in an official capacity on a daily basis. His name is Zen Faulkes.
A: And when I'm not on the job, we have another fine individual named Vaughn Derderian who does the same. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 November 2003", 13 Nov 2003 - Q: Player A has Doji Tanitsu XP2 unbowed. Player B has an unbowed personality and has resolved a Champion's Heart. A discards the Imperial Favor[.] Can B take it from A and then A bows tanitsu to take the favor back? Can A take the favor back and then B bows an unbowed personality to get the favor?
A: I won't address this specific case because of its Diamond elements, but the general rule is when only one player can get something (e.g., the Favor, going first, etc.), the last Reaction taken gets it. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 2 October 2003", 2 Oct 2003
