Rules Q&A
- Q: Shosuro Higatsuku with Monkey Magistrates attached. If he forces another personality to challenge him, do the MM give him the +2chi bonus?
A: No. Higatsuku is not being targeted by another player's action. He's being challenged by another player's Personality, but it's still *your* action. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 13th, 2003", 13 Aug 2003 - Q: A Scorpion player dishonors a target personality. The Scorpion then uses Shosuro Higatsuku to force the personality to challenge him. Once challenged, the Scorpion player throws Face Me!
When the Chi and the Personal Honor are switched, and the personality dies, does the player's honor loss equal the personality's printed Personal Honor or does the honor loss equal the personality's Chi since the two stats were switched?
A: Point the first: Face Me! does not switch Chi and Personal Honor. It copies Personal Honor over Chi and leaves Personal Honor alone. [card text]
Point the second: When a Personality dies dishonorably, his controller loses the Personality's *printed* Personal Honor, which almost nothing, including being dishonored or switching stats, changes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 June 2002", 6 Jun 2002 - Q: Help please, If Shos. Higatsuku uses his Political Battle action, can he do the following ??
Be targeted with Shosuro Tech.? (He's bowed)
A: No. Jeff Alexander, "post for 10 May 2002", 15 May 2002 - Q: Why can you strike and react with PW when bowed? Reactions target, right?
A: They follow the same rules as every other action type. That's not nearly the same as saying "they always target". Jeff Alexander, "post for 10 May 2002", 15 May 2002 - Q: Shosuro Higatsuku has as a battle action the ability to force someone to challenge him. If he does this, does the Higatsuki player or the player forced into the duel get first reaction?
A: The player to Higatsuku's controller's left takes the first Reaction to his action, then the first Reaction to the challenge, then the first Reaction to one of his or her Personalities entering a duel. Higatsuku, being the one challenged, gets the first option to focus or strike. Jeff Alexander, "post for 11 March 2002", 12 Mar 2002 - Q: I would think you need Kwanchai there since you have to abide by the rule of presence to use his reaction.
A: Reactions are not bound by the Presence or the Relevance rules. Those two rules apply to Battle and Open actions only. Jeff Alexander, "post for 11 March 2002", 12 Mar 2002 - Q: The main debate was whether the Oracle targets Shosuro Higatsuku or not. All agreed that if it targets him it cant be used now that Reactions are actions and you cant target your own bowed personalities with actions.
A: I was wrong. You were right. The Oracle of Fire targets your duelist, so it can't be used if he's bowed. This is a REVERSAL. Jeff Alexander, "post for 16 January 2002", 17 Jan 2002 - Q: A simple question that some heated debate in a tournament over the weekend.
Can the Oracle of Fire be used on Shosuro Higatsuku after he has bowed to start a duel with an opponent? And could the reasoning for the answer please be explained as I would like to be able to pacify both sides of the arguement around here.
A: Higatsuku has no prohibitions against focussing. The Oracle of Fire does not care if your Personality is challenging or being challenged. There's nothing on either card that would even hint that the combo is illegal. Jeff Alexander, "post for 15 January 2002", 16 Jan 2002
