Rules Q&A
- Q: Situation: I Wedge the 3F/1C Scorpion Clan Samurai created from Shosuro Infiltrator(SI). Questionable results: Wedge destroys the Samurai when the battle ends. Since it has been ruled that Bayushi Kwanchai Exp. can negate a Scorpion Clan personality's death from Wedge and since the timing on the final effects of SI and Wedge conflict ("remove from game" and "unable to target" both happen "after the battle ends,") can I choose to have the "remove from game" effect happen before the "unable to target" effect and keep the 3F/1C Scorpion Clan Samurai permanently? If so can I finish the rest of SI's effect and return it to play attached to the original personality?
A: Since when does Shosuro Infiltrator target anything? Cards don't have to target themselves to use their own abilities that can't target someone else instead. There isn't any choice in the matter with a clear self-reference, so there is no targeting decision.
Wedge can't prevent the infiltrator from removing itself from the game. Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 December 2004", 10 Dec 2004 - Q: 4F Scorpion Personality gets a Shosuro Infiltrator via Few Against Many. Recruiting Drive gets played. In battle I use Shosuro Infiltrator's battle action. Can I now really attach him again for zero gold and repeat this stuff like a trillion times?
A: Yes. Make a trillion 3/1 Scorpion Clan Samurai Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 December 2004", 6 Dec 2004 - Q: Guardian of the Rift Repeatable Battle/Open, bow: Remove a target Ancestor attachment from the game. When the turn ends, return it to play attached to its previous Personality if he is still in play, ignoring costs and entering-play effects; if he is not, discard the Ancestor.

Do the Ancestor/Follower come back unbowed?
What if, say, it removed the entire unit, like The Masters Imprisoned, but never mentioned anything about 'preserving bowed status'?
I mean, the cards are out-of-play in an area that has no orientation, right? And since the normal orientation of a card being brought into play is unbowed (except holdings), they would (re-)enter play like that; is my assupmtion correct?
A: As stated on p22 of the Comprehensive Rules: Cards, other than Holdings, enter play in the unbowed state. Alex Jones, "Shosuro Infiltrator / Guardian of the Rift", 9 May 2014 - Q: Can I use the Battle action of the Shosuro Infiltrator from another location?
A: No. It says "in this army," which means it has to be in current battle (Diamond rules, pg. 81). Zen Faulkes, "Shosuro Infiltrator's Question", 11 Apr 2005 - Q: When (does Shosuro Infiltrator) returns to a personality (before or after personality bows due to a battle resolution)?
A: After. Zen Faulkes, "Shosuro Infiltrator question", 31 Mar 2005
