Rulings
- Erratum: Text box refers to "Iron Mine." It should read "Silver Mine." The Imperial Herald, Vol. 1, Issue 1, p. 11

- Erratum: Reads, “Silver Mine Mine Bow this card: Produce 2 Gold, or 3 Gold if you are a Phoenix Clan player.” [MRP, Samurai Edition, 25 July 2007] Comprehensive Rules, Samurai Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, May 2009, p. 157
Rules Q&A
- Q: ...but what about buying a personality. I have Iuchiban in one province and a Corrupt Silver Mine in another province. I declare that I'm going to buy Iuchiban in my dynasty phase.
A: The Purchasing of Personalities during the Dynasty Phase is not an Action. It has its own set of Rules. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 May 2004", 27 May 2004 - Q: In reference to the card Mystic Dojo: http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=5470
"This holding has +2GP when it pays for a single Shugenja only."
If paying for a 5G Shugenja during Dynasty, I bow Mystic Dojo and Silver Mine, producing a pool of 7 Gold. After bringing the Shugenja into play, does the extra 2G produced from the pool disappear, as it would be paying for another personality/holding?
I guess I'm just a bit confused on the change of wording from the older version.
A: When you produce gold, it does not go directly into the pool: it first goes to pay the cost, with leftovers going to the pool.
See Action Sequence, Step B, Paying Costs: "During the Pay Costs step ... its player may produce Gold and then pay for the action using the Gold just produced and Gold in that player’s Gold pool. Any Gold produced that is not spent on the action goes to the player’s Gold pool."
However, if you use the trait on Mystic Dojo to produce the extra 2g, none of the gold it produces is left over (even if you only spend 3g of the 4g on the Recruit action), so it does not enter the pool.
In contrast, anything produced by the Silver Mine which is not spent on the Recruit action, does go into the pool. Alex Jones, "Mystic Dojo and Gold Pooling", 23 Feb 2015 - Q: Thanks!!! Yup, LS in Emperor is a bad choice Now, two scenarios for this one: 1) I am paying for a spells that costs 4 gold... i use that holding and it produce 4 gold, right? 2) I am paying for a spell that costs 7 gold, can I use that holding (assuming it would produce 4 gold) along with silver mine for the remaining 3 gold?
A: Not bad, per se, if you have actions that cost Gold themselves. Just not an auto-include. 😛
Yes? Why wouldn't you be able to? :/ Whoa, wait wait.
It produces 4 for attachments, not 5. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 13 Apr 2024 - Q: random question, looking to play some onyx with my friends as we are pulling back into some l5r hype. is it correct that in onyx edition there are no clan holdings legal? like shinomen forest for spider, silver mine for phoenix, marketplace for crane? just checking as we are deckbuilding in sun and moon and they aren't listed as legal under the onyx legality tag
A: Correct Jeremy Sumerlin, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 7 Apr 2024
