Rules Q&A
- Q: Does a Small Farm cost 1 gold out of Kosaten Shiro?
A: No. From the Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings#Stronghold_boxes), ""Holdings' costs cannot be increased." Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 4 July 2003", 4 Jul 2003 - Q: "Each 5-card booster (for lack of a better word) includes multiple copies of a new, non-unique personality from a particular clan, and the remaining cards are "core" cards (think Sanctified Temples, Small Farm, common Actions, etc...." - Mark Jelfo.
Okay, so what happens if you already have 3 Small Farms in your deck, and your booster contains another one? Do you play with 4 Small Farms? Or do you take one of your normal ones out?
A: You add the contents of the booster to your deck. You can go over legal card limits from this without being disqualified. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 May 2003", 14 May 2003 - Q: What about Small Farm? Is there a window where I can grab a G&F before a free holding drops down into play?
A: Whether a Holding costs 0 gold or more than 0 has no effect on the timing with which it enters play. There's no reason to test Small Farms separately from GPHs in general. Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 September 2002", 20 Sep 2002 - Q: [Jade] if you use The Sacred Temple of the Phoenix to produce 7 gold to bring Isawa Osugi into play for full, does net your 4 honor? (Like using the SH plus another holding for the last gold I mean, like that and a small farm)
A: No. I believe in contemporary Jade Rules, you could not even buy Osugi with the 7 Gold at all because her trait would also cancel the Gold production, which was considered an "effect" at that time. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 23 May 2026 - Q: Small Farm and 0F Taks. Not a steep cost
A: Blessings Upon your (pre-OPT) Master Painter, Taka-sama Jeff Williamson, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 17 Aug 2024
