- When faced with insurmountable odds, a samurai will often retreat, so as not to die needlessly and cost his lord a servant. There are times, however, when a stand must be made.

Rules Q&A
- Q: This might be dumb, but I know Standing Fast destroys weapons made from Gyushi Kageto. Does the same apply if someone bowed the yojimbo scout personality created while investeding in Suzune, the Coy with Standing Fast?
A: Yes, as the created Personality has a gold cost of 0.
See Created Personalities: The printed text and stats of a created card are determined by the effect that created it. If an effect that creates a card gives no value for a stat the card type normally has, that stat’s base value is zero. Alex Jones, "Standing Fast", 27 May 2015 - Q: Scenario A: Enemy Personality A: 7G Enemy Personality B: 6G unit Enemy Personality Yojimbo C: 8G unit
My Samurai Personality: 14G Unit
I target both A and B with Standing Fast. Enemy interupts with Final Sacrifice to target C. Since C+A and C+B targeting combinations are illegal, am I forced to target C alone or does the original targeting remain?
A: Errata has been issued to Final Sacrifice.
The player of Final Sacrifice must choose one of the targeting choices of Standing Fast to be changed to the Yojimbo. In the situation described, changing the targeting of either A or B to instead target C will result in illegal targets, so Final Sacrifice's redirection effect will fail. Alex Jones, "Final Sacrifice and Standing Fast", 19 May 2015 - Q: Player A plays Standing Fast, targeting two units of player B, Isawa X and Isawa Y.
Player B interrupts with Final Sacrifice, targeting a third unit, Shiba Z.
Final Sacrifice requires that one of the two targets of Standing Fast be Shiba Z. But which player chooses which of Isawa X and Isawa Y is no longer targeted?
A: Errata has been issued to Final Sacrifice.
The player of Final Sacrifice chooses which targeting choice is changed. Alex Jones, "Final Sacrifice vs Standing Fast", 19 May 2015 - Q: Recruiting Allies Battle: If there are one or more enemy units at the current battlefield: Create three 2F/2C/2PH Samurai Personality cards in your army there. Remove them from the game after the battle ends.
Standing Fast Battle: Target one of your unbowed Samurai or Berserker Personalities: Target up to two units opposing him with a combined total Gold Cost less than his unit's total Gold Cost. Bow them. Destroy any cards in those units with 0 Gold Cost.
If I create little samurai guys with Recruiting Allies can 2 of them be destroyed if my opponent uses Standing Fast with a 4G cost person? Do my temporary samurai dudes have a gold cost?
A: There is no printed cost of the Samurai personalities created by Recruiting Allies. Therefore, it defaults to zero. As long as your opponent has a Samurai or Berserker personality with greater than 0 gold cost opposing the Recruiting Allies, he may bow, and then destroy two of them with Standing Fast. Dan Jacobson, "Recruiting Allies + Standing Fast", 16 Nov 2008 - Q: I was playing a game and used Standing Fast on a personality with three 0 cost follower tokens....
A: Ah, there's your misconception right there (emphasis mine). Because:
http://rules.l5r.com/Non-card_physical_game_elements#Tokens:"Tokens are not cards. In Samurai Edition, follower, item or personality tokens cannot be created; cards are created instead."
And just in case you were playing Legacy Format (or "Open", as some call it) with older cards that say they create "token" Followers, there is also this:
http://rules.l5r.com/Legacy_Format#Older_Cards:"Things that say they create tokens with a card type (such as “Follower tokens”) create cards of that type instead of tokens."
To quote Yoda, "You must un-learn what you have learned."
Created cards are, as of Samurai Edition, never tokens. Nothing is a token unless it says it's a token, and I guarantee no Samurai-legal most-recent-printing of any card will create a card-type (Follower, Item, etc.) and say it's a token.
Also, while it is correct Standing Fast will not destroy tokens because (as seen above) they are not cards, it WILL destroy created cards without a stated Gold Cost stat:
http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Created_cards: "Any stats of a created card not specified by that effect, but that a card of that type normally has, have a base value of 0." Brook Cunningham, "Standing fast and tokens", 20 Mar 2008 - Q: Im attacking a province with a 19 gold cost unit and defending me are Bayushi Paneki XP4 and a Shosuro Uyeda. If I use a Standing Fast as a Naval action and it gets reinforced, what targeting am I required to make in order to lose the least amount of honor(from Paneki's trait)? Can I just target my personality because of the up to 2 targets stated on Standing Fast?
A: Yes, you may choose to target no opposing units as you "Target up to two units opposing him.." and none is a choice. Doruk Özaydın, "Misdirection, Multiple Targets, Reinforce, Paneki XP4", 28 Feb 2008 - Q: If I use the Standing Fast and the other player uses Misdirection, can he choose no targets because Standing Fast states "up to 2 targets"?
A: Yes, per Misdirection's wording: "Political Gozoku Reaction: Before another player would choose targets for one of his action’s effects during a battle, target one of your Courtier or Gozoku Personalities: You choose the targets instead."
The opponent makes all your targeting choices and he can choose 0 targets. See Chris Fuchs's previous ruling on this. Doruk Özaydın, "Misdirection, Multiple Targets, Reinforce, Paneki XP4", 28 Feb 2008
