Rulings
- If it targets a token follower, the Follower's controller can opt to have Stern Reprimand try to send it into his or her hand, which removes it from the game instead. [Reversal, JA, 23 October 2003] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 34
Rules Q&A
- Q: 3.- Token cards
In the WoE Rulesheet I can read "Things that count as both tokens and cards follow the rules of cards."
My opponnet plays Stern Reprimand on my Seruma. She has one Ashigaru Follower token. I don't want to dishonor Seruma, and choose the "sends the card back to its owner’s hand" path. What happens?
3.1 The Ashigaru Follower token is removed from the game (as per DE Rulebook: Tokens) 3.2 The Ashigaru Follower token goes to my hand (as per WoE Rulesheet: Tokens) I have to use a proxy for it, backed exactly as the rest of my Fate cards. 3.3 Other. Please, explain.
A: According to Jeff in email:
"As a general rule, tokens leaving the game if they leave play does not stop the original method of leaving play from occurring or being successful. I'm pretty sure this is a reversal of at least one ruling I've made."
In light of that, I'd think you successfully move the Token from play to your hand and then remove it from the game immediately. Martin Lund, "Rules for 10 December 2004", 13 Dec 2004 - Q: *Action* /Stern Reprimand/
A: <SNIP> Martin Lund, "Rules for 25 June 2004", 28 Jun 2004 - Q: Can you use Stern Reprimand to target a follower token?
A: Yes (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 4 October 2003", 4 Oct 2003 - Q: Quote:
Current word from Jeff Alexander: You cannot dishonor someone who already is dishonored.
Say my opponent has a dishonored personality in play that had attached a Bloodspeaker Students. I play Stern Reprimand, since they cannot choose to dishonor a dishonored personality, they would have to send the follower to their hand?
A: Yes. The player cannot choose an option that will have a partial result when an option exists that will have the full result. Jeff Alexander, "Stern Reprimand and Unrequited Love", 12 Apr 2005 - Q: If I play Unrequited Love on a dishonored personality, would he have to bow his personality since he cannot dishonor his dishonored personality?
A: No. His choice isn't between bowing and dishonoring. His choice is whether to bow to produce some effect. He can choose "yes, I'll bow" or "no, I won't bow". Unless the Personality cannot bow. Then he has to choose "no, I won't bow". Jeff Alexander, "Stern Reprimand and Unrequited Love", 12 Apr 2005
