Rules Q&A
- Q: Hello-
Simple question. Can multiple region cards effect the same province? For example, if I get plains above evil in my left-most province, and later Streets of Otosan Uchi turns up in the same place, so they both have an effect?
If not, I imagine that winning with an SCC deck by getting all four walls of Otosan Uchi in play in basically impossible.
A: Regions -- the card type with the dark gold border -- are limited to one per Province, period. Fortifications -- which are a subset of the Holding card type with the trait "Fortification" on them -- are limited to one of each title per Province, but there is no limit on how many different ones one Province can have. This is in the rulebook under "Card Types In Detail" on pages 28-29. Jeff Alexander, "post for 23 May 2002", 24 May 2002 - Q: Streets of Otosan Uchi - "Unique. Each player may as a battle action once per battle per each of his or her Personalities, have one of his or her Personalities challenge an opposing Personality. The challenged Personality's controller may refuse the challenge by discarding a card from hist or her hand." The MRPed text does not appear to require that the challenge be performed by the same Personality as the "per each of his or her Personalities" Personality, so that one Personality can issue multiple challenges. The Scorpion Clan Coup version of this card unambiguously permitted each Personality only 1 challenge.
A: The text is close enough. Without specific idea of intent overruling a previous version, stick with the intent of the previous version. One challenge, per personality, per battle. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for July 30th", 30 Jul 2001
