Rules Q&A
- Q: If there is a battle with 2 ninjas, can Strike From the Shadows be played to sneak attack and use Black Hearts, Red Blades as the first action and retreat with both ninjas? Or does the text on Strike from the Shadows limit you from playing the card (which must be performed by a Ninja)?
A: If you mean, "Does having two Ninja exclude something callling for 'a Ninja' -- no. See: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Special_wording ... _of_things Zen Faulkes, "Strike from the Shadows and Black Hearts, Red Blades", 28 Jul 2010 - Q: Hi,
Let's say in this battle I have Sneak Attack, Deathly Aura and Strike from the Shadows in my hand. Can I play them all and grant me 3 first actions before my opponent does?
Strike from the Shadows Reaction: After engaging, if you are the Attacker, target your Ninja Personality at the current battlefield: You have the first opportunity to take a Battle action in this battle, which must be performed by a Ninja. You may discard any cards in the current battlefield's province; if this discarded a Personality, draw a card.
Deathly Aura Reaction: After engaging, if you are the Attacker, choose your performing Samurai: You have the first chance to take a Battle action in this battle, which must be performed by that Samurai.
Sneak Attack Reaction: After engaging: The Attacker has the first opportunity to take a Battle action or pass during this battle. Play then proceeds in turn order from him.
Thanks!
A: Note that unless the Samurai who performs Deathly Aura is also a Ninja, you'll be unable to satisfy both conditions, so you'll have to pass at that first opportunity to take a Battle action in this battle. Alex Jones, "Multiple "Sneaks"", 9 Jul 2010 - Q: Battle: Move one or more target unbowed Ninja Personalities with no non-Ninja Followers from the current battlefield to another battlefield.
A: Please read the FAQ on this matter. Dan Jacobson, "Strike From the Shadows/Hasty Exit question", 26 Jan 2010 - Q: Personalities and Followers perform actions printed on them, and actions where they are targeted between the two colons of an action. <---Only one colon in this action, so nope.
Actions on Items or Spells are performed by their Personality.<--Action on a Strategy card, also no
Nobody performs an action if it targets only as an effect (that is, isn't printed between two colons) or doesn't target.<---This looks like it.
Some actions are performed by multiple cards: either multiple Personalities, multiple Followers, or some combination of both Personalities and Followers.
A: No one is performing the action. Hasty Exit may not be used after Strike in Shadows Dan Jacobson, "Strike From the Shadows/Hasty Exit question", 26 Jan 2010
