Rules Q&A
- Q: If I am a Unicorn player playing with Tadeji Sensei, can an opponant create an Earth Kami token under my control?
A: '"Creating" is not considered "joining." [JA, 10 October 2000]' (Accumulated Rulings, "Joining and changing controllers."
The Personality is created under your control. It does not "join" you. Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 September 2004", 10 Sep 2004 - Q: Would I be right in thinking that to use this spell to create a personality in your opponents army the caster must be assigned to a province during the attack phase?
A: No. Creating a card or token at the Battle is enough to fulfill Relevance. However, creating a unit under your opponent's control won't fulfill your requirement for Presence. You'll need to at least have Koto on your side of the Battle to get away with creating a Personality in the enemy army. Martin Lund, "Rules for 3 September 2004", 7 Sep 2004 - Q: Can I create a 1F/1C personality in a battle controled by my opponent and then play Informant ?. Informant says: "target a player who controls one or more Personalities that he or she does not own. You may bow one of those Personalities.". As Informant allows me to bow one of such personalities, I'm targetting a card in the battle by playing informant so the combo is ok with the rule of relevance The only point is, does the other player own the 1F/1C personality I create ?
A: The player who uses the Effect that Creates a Card is the Card's owner (DE Rulebook, page 102, "Glossary - Owner"). That's the player who used Summon Earth Kami. You can bow a Personality you've created under another player's control with Informant.
Just remember that you'll need Presence as well as Relevance to do this in Battle. Martin Lund, "Rules for 30 August 2004", 3 Sep 2004 - Q: Open question.
I have one personality in play, Tamori Minoru and he has a Summon Earth Kami attached. I am also playing Yodin Sensei and my opponent has one personality in play.
He attacks and I create a rock man in his army using Summon Earth Kami. Am I right in assuming that he cannot bring any more personalities into play as he has the most personalities during his dynasty phase (this would also work if I had an extra personality as he has two during his dynasty phase) and has already bought a personality into play?
As he controls the rockman he is considered to have bought it into play correct?
A: No. The player who used the effect that brought the card into play is considered to have brought it into play. This is what Jeff ruled on Feign Death recently, and it applies here too. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18-21 August 2004", 29 Aug 2004 - Q: Can you use Summon Earth Kami to create a unit on any player's side during an Ambush?
A: Yes. You neither assign nor move the created unit, so Ambush does not bother you. Martin Lund, "Rules for 29 June 2004", 2 Jul 2004 - Q: How many PH this personality card has? I want to know because of "To Do What We Must", "Show Me Your Stance" , innate duel of PH from Kurorito etc.
A: If the stat is not defined when the card is created, the value defaults to 0. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 June 2004", 6 Jun 2004 - Q: A guy can use this to create a pep card in controll of the adversary?
A: Yes. Summon Earth Kami says, "create a 1F/1C Personality card in the current battle, controlled by either the Attacker or the Defender and in that player's army." Martin Lund, "Rules for 20 May 2004", 24 May 2004 - Q: If I have a Summon Earth Kami attached to an Agasha Seruma, and have already bowed her to cast it this turn, is Asako Shiwasu prevented from casting the spell, as if it was attached to her?
A: She is prevented from casting Summon Earth Kami again since you've already used the Action and the Action specifies that it is "Once per turn." It doesn't matter who is casting the Spell, it can only have its Action successfully played once in a given turn. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18 May 2004", 20 May 2004 - Q: With 'Summon Earth Kami', can I create opposition to my army at the current battle?
Elemental Earth Battle: Once per turn, bow this Shugenja to create a 1F/1C Personality card in the current battle, controlled by either the Attacker or the Defender and in that player's army. Remove that Personality from the game when the turns ends. You need not bow this Shugenja if he is an Earth Shugenja.
A: Yes. You can create the new Personality in either army. He will be controlled by that army's leader. [card text]
Creating something in the current battle satisfies the Rule of Relevance. If that "thing" is a unit you control, creating it also satisfies the Rule of Presence. The only time you couldn't use Summon Earth Kami to put a Personality into the enemy army is if you don't control any units in your own army. Jeff Alexander, "Creating Opposition", 3 Mar 2005
