Rules Q&A
- Q: Does Traitor's Grove work with Sunrise Keep.
If you have one person from each clan in your deck?
Thanks
Fu
A: Sunrise Keep has no Clan Alignment. None of your personalities therefore, have your Clan Alignment. Traitor's Grove will find no legal targets if you play Sunrise Keep.
As an aside, Sunrise Keep and Lost Traveler Castle are both banned from sanctioned play.
You may play them in casual tournaments, but no storyline tournaments. Dan Jacobson, "traitor's grove", 24 Jan 2010 - Q: Referring to: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=80040
Despite the card implying (sp?) you have a clan alignment, it does say WITHOUT your clan alignment. If you have no clan alignment, then none of your personalities in play share a clan alignment with you.
Why does not having a clan alignment make this action fail, when in fact, it should make it easier to play.
A: Comment noted, but no change now. Zen Faulkes, "Sunrise Keep and Clan Alignment Issues", 9 Nov 2009 - Q: If there is a card that refers to Clan Alignment, how does that work.
A: Too general to answer. Zen Faulkes, "Sunrise Keep and Clan Alignment Issues", 9 Nov 2009 - Q: Specifically, would you be able to use Besieged Borderland at all if you are running with Sunrise Keep?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_The_Player#Clan_alignment: "A player using an unaligned Stronghold (one with no Clan alignment) has no Clan alignment. An unaligned player does not have the same Clan alignment as unaligned Personalities."
Besieged Borderlands looks for Personalities "without your Clan alignment," which implies you have one to begin with. Since you don't, the effect will fail. Zen Faulkes, "Sunrise Keep and Clan Alignment Issues", 9 Nov 2009 - Q: My question is fairly simple, the condition in the trait on each of these says "after the first time each turn you choose a personality..." (yadda): something happens. Does the something that happens, happen for the first time I bring a personality into play, or the second and subsequent instances of when I choose a personality to bring into play.
A: It only applies to the first instance, just as it says. Brook Cunningham, "Lost Traveler Castle & Sunrise Keep", 14 Oct 2009
