Rules Q&A
- Q: Second, Slaughter says opposing Personality. If I remember correctly, it was ruled that you can only satisfy the 'opposing' requirement in the current battle. Am I mistaken? Thanks!
A: Diamond rulebook, pg. 84, say "only if the card the action is printed on is in the current battle." This refers to cards in units; action cards like Slaughter the Scout never enter play, so this rule doesn't refer to them.
Let's go to the Rule itself then: Zen Faulkes, "Swift as the Wind", 8 Mar 2005 - Q: A player can take an action that refers to an opposing card or this battle, or that includes an implicating phrase such as another attacking card or the Province this card is defending, only if the card on which the action is printed is in the current battle.
A: Slaughter the Scout is the card on which the action is printed. It can not be in a battle. It can never abide this rule when played. That is considered a case of a card's instruction explicitly contradicting a Rule (can't do what you are told to by the card, ever, without braking that rule. By the First Cardinal Rule (page 34), this card ignores the above rule. Zen Faulkes, "Swift as the Wind", 8 Mar 2005
