Rules Q&A
- Q: If a Dragon samurai attaches two Tachi's, does the samurai get the force and chi bonuses from each? Or does each one cancel the other one out? I ask primarily because of the way that the card is worded:
"Negate all Force and Chi bonuses this Personality receives (except focusing) from all sources except Tachi(s)."
Does the (s) indicate all weapons named Tachi, so that two can be attached without problems? Or is this an odd form of possessive - "Tachi's" ?
A: No, there's still only one possessive in English, and that involves the apostrophe. The "(s)" makes the word plural if necessary, since Tachi isn't Unique and we're well aware that some Personalities can have more than one weapon. Someone with multiple Tachis gains full bonuses from all of them. Jeff Alexander, "post for 25 November 2002", 26 Nov 2002 - Q: Can I use Berserker Rage on a berserker peep with Tachi attached?
A: It's always legal to play it. It just won't do anything if his current Force is less than twice his printed Force. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 September 2002", 21 Sep 2002 - Q: So, first question; let's say we have a ninja shapeshifter with a +2f weapon, and another personality with 5f. The ninja copies the second guy's force. Is the ninja now 5f or 7f (5f+2f)?
Second question; now ninja shapeshifter has a Tachi. He copies a 6chi personality. Does the ninja now have 5chi, 6chi, or 9chi?
Edit: for clarification, relevant texts: Tachi +3chi Negate this Personality's Force and Chi bonuses
Ninja shapeshifter 2f 2chi Ninja Battle/Open: Ninja Shapeshifter copies a target Personality's Force, Chi, Personal Honor, or ability that does not copy abilities.
A: When you "copy" or "set" a stat to a specific number, you give a bonus or penalty equal to the difference between the new number and the old number.
In example 1, the Shapeshifter is currently 4F, and is copying a 5F personality. Therefore he gets a bonus of +1F, and is 5F.
In example 2, the Tachi negates the bonus to chi the Shapeshifter would get, so he remains at 5C. Jon Palmer, "2 questions about ninja shapeshifter and weapons", 17 Apr 2015
