Rules Q&A
- Q: Tamori Kazushige: Open: If it is another player's turn, target one of his Personalities: Before this phase ends, straighten him. Before this turn ends, if the Personality did not assign to attack this turn, gain 2 Honor. Goju House Guard: Battle: Put this card on the top or bottom of your Fate deck and target an enemy Personality: Put all cards without attachments in his unit on the bottom of their owner's appropriate deck.
If I target personality X with Kazushige, he assigns to attack me, and my first action that battle is to use Goju House Guard to put personality X on the bottom of his owner's deck, do I gain 2 honor from Kazushige's delayed effect?
Essentially, is "Personality X has assigned to attack this turn" a game state thing or a card tracking thing that is forgotten when personality X goes face down and out of play?
A: "Personality X has assigned to attack this turn" is a part of the game state of Personality X, but it is tracked by the delayed effect created by Tamori Kazushige's action: the delayed effect does not wait until "Before the turn ends" and only then check the game state of Personality X. Instead, his game state is watched until he goes face down and out of play, and the delayed effect 'remembers' what happened up to that point. How is this interaction any different than the interaction between Game of Dice and Isawa Kimi xp2?

Regards,
A: The wording is different.
Shiro Chugo sets up an ongoing effect that will reduce any gain or loss from the action's effects by 2. It isn't checking to see whether or not the action caused the gain during its resolution (as most actions do) or at a later point - the reduction is triggered when the gain happens (as long as it happens in the same turn).
Kimi, on the other hand, requires the resolution of an action that put cards into a player's hand. A Game of Dice is not an action that put cards into a player's hand at the time it resolves, and therefore is not a valid trigger for Kimi. Jon Palmer, "Tamori Kazushige vs. Shiro Chugo follow up", 4 Apr 2012 - Q: Can Tamori Kazushige's honor gain be reduced by Shiro Chugo's reaction?
Tamori Kazushige
Open: If it is another player's turn, target one of his Personalities: Before this phase ends, straighten him. Before this turn ends, if the Personality did not assign to attack this turn, gain 2 Honor.
Shiro Chugo
Political Reaction: Before an action's resolution, choose your performing unbowed Courtier: Reduce any Honor gain or loss from the action's effects by 2.
A: Yes it can.
The Shiro Chugo player must remember however to use the reaction before the resolution of Kazushige's ability, not when the honor gain would happen. Ben Higgins, "Tamori Kazushige vs. Shiro Chugo", 4 Apr 2012 - Q: Say I use Tamori Kazushige ability on my opponent's personality and later kill that personality is the action phase. Will I still gain the 2 honor since the dead personality didn't attack me?
A: Yes, if he's left play and that is the reason he did not assign to attack you, you will gain the 2 honor. Jon Palmer, "Tamori Kazushige and a killed personality", 25 Jan 2012
