Rules Q&A
- Q: If I steal my opponents ring with Tch'tch Warrens, and have that same ring in my hand, can I play out both rings?
A: Sure. Just remember that an Enlightenment Victory requires that you have all 5 rings in play (Air, Water, Earth, Fire, and Void) not 5 copies of Water or 2 water and 3 air, for example. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 July 2004 (for real this time)", 4 Jul 2004 - Q: I did some checking in the Rules Archive, and I wanted to be sure I'm clear on a few things. Once played, the Egg of Pan Ku is permanently a personality, even if it leaves play, but it also retains its status as a Fate card. This allows Tch'tch Warrens to retreive it from a Dynasty discard pile, should the Egg be killed as a personality, correct?
However, the Tch'tch Warrens player would have no way of playing the Egg from his hand, since it is a Personality, correct?
Also, as a Personality, the Egg would not have a defined focus value, making it effectively a 0, correct?
A: Leon! Get off my li- er ... wait a minute. You're not Leon, are you?
Oh, in that case, yes, you are pretty much spot-on. Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 April 2004 (no jokes)", 3 Apr 2004 - Q: And one last question on Tch'tch Warrens: Would Open Warfare and Amnesia have any effect on cards that have already been taken from another player's discard pile? I would think not, as the action had already been used and is simply having an ongoing effect.
Thanks, ~Brian
A: Eliminating the source of an Action or Ability won't stop the effects it has already produced, so you are correct again. Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 April 2004 (no jokes)", 3 Apr 2004 - Q: a Ratling player (Tch'Tch Warrens) who sees an egg in every discard pile. Can he grab each Egg (over time) and have them all in play at the same time eventually?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 10 December 2003", 11 Dec 2003 - Q: In a multiplayer game, does the ability of the warrens to take cards from a players discard pile allow the rattling player to keep those cards in hand even after a player is eliminated from the game?
A: No (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 20). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 4 September 2003", 4 Sep 2003 - Q: If a Rat player using Tch'Tch Warrens snags a card that causes an honor loss for playing it from someone else's discard pile, and then plays it and then No Mercy resolves, does he lose the game if he reaches -14 honor?
A: Jeff Alexander's already answered this, but just to reiterate in the "daily Q&A post": you lose. "One of your own cards" is not equivalent to "a card you own." Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 19 August 2003, Part 2", 20 Aug 2003
