Rules Q&A
- Q: So are we getting a ruling on this? Or has it been ruled outside of the search function?
(Specifically, I see that the combo is being used and I'd like to know whether a ruling has been made.)
Edit: Removed link. I thought that it referenced a Halls of the Ancestors deck.
A: See http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=75264.
Also, Jared was not playing The Halls of Ancestors, he was playing Vigilant Plains of the Ikoma. Alex Jones, "Tempered Resurrection+ Halls of the Ancestors", 20 May 2009 - Q: Tempered Resurrection
Fire Open: Bow this Shugenja unless he has the Fire keyword: You may remove an honorably dead Personality you own from the game. Target a face-up Personality in one of your provinces. Reduce his Gold Cost by the Gold Cost of any Personality you removed. Bring the target into play (paying all costs).

Am I correct in thinking that even if I do not remove a personality I may still bring in a target face up personality for his full, base gold cost?
Edit: and if the above is allowed, do I still need to meet his honor requirement?
A: Am I correct in thinking that even if I do not remove a personality I may still bring in a target face up personality for his full, base gold cost? Yes. Note that you can only choose to pay two less gold when bringing a Personality aligned to your clan into play during the Dynasty Phase.
Edit: and if the above is allowed, do I still need to meet his honor requirement? Yes. Note that you can only pay the extra to ignore the honour requirement of a Personality aligned to your clan during the Dynasty Phase.

Let's say that on Turn 4, I use this spell paying the costs and removing a 9 gold cost honorably dead personality.
On Turn 5, I use the spell again, but this time I choose to not remove an honorably dead personality. Can I reduce the Gold Cost of the personality in my province by the gold cost of the personality I removed on Turn 4 ?
I ask the question because of the "any", which let me think that any personality removed by the player and by any way, will do the trick for this spell.
Thanks for your patient explanation.

A: See also here. The text has to say "any" because removing a Personality is an option, not mandatory. Zen Faulkes, "Tempered Resurrection removed personality", 22 Apr 2009 - Q: (I)f i remove a non dead personality with Master Saleh from my opponents discard pile, with a gold cost of, lets say 10. Would i be able to use Tempered Resurrection and remove one of my honorabley dead personalitys for the cost, and then for the effect key it off of the 10 gold cost personality that i removed with the Master Saleh(?)
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "Master Saleh and Tempered resurrection", 10 Jun 2007 - Q: Card text :

Here is the question : does the second bold part refers only to personnality removed with the first one?
May i reduce the gold cost by the Gold Cost of any Personality removed previously? eg : use of Tempered resurrection the previous turn (removing a dead personnality) or Shiba Daizan like ability.
A: It applies only to the personality removed by itself. Chris Fuchs, "Tempered Resurrection", 25 May 2007
