- Erratum: Reads, "Bayushi House Guard 2F/+1C 0HR 5G -PH 4FV Unique. Only a Scorpion Clan Personality can attach the Bayushi House Guard. All cards in this unit are immune to Fear. Effects that last until the turn ends or shorter do no lower the Chi of the Bayushi House Guard's Personality." [MRP, Gold Edition; 1 July 2001] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 42
Rules Q&A
- Q: Thus, it may be that if you as an opposing player play a delayed terrain and your opponent uses Tishi's ability, he may not get his bonus till the battle resolution, since that is when the terrain would actually resolve. Not when it is played. Possibly an important, yet subtle difference in some battles.
Is this the way it is? So, if he played a delayed terrain, which I reacted to with Tishi's ability, then I destroyed that terrain, then he played another, which I was also able to destroy, I would gain no benefit? That seems somehow wrong.
"Reaction: After an opposing player resolves a battle action, Tishi gains +F/-C until the end of the battle."
Any other answers or views? Is that the way this is?
A: By his own wording, Tishi cannot use his Reaction until the Battle action resolves. In the case of Delayed Terrains, that's not until the end of the Battle Action Segment. He can't react when they're played. Jeff Alexander, "post for 30 January 2002", 31 Jan 2002 - Q: During our league last night, this issue came up. While at the time I did not have a new version of the BHG with me, I went ahead and allowed the combo to work until I could get a definative answer. The player said that the new version of the BHG allowed for Tishi where the old version did not.
If Soshi Tishi has the Bayushi House Guard attached, will he take the -1 chi that accompanies his Reaction? After reading the Gold version, I say no but would like confirmation.
A: The Bayushi House Guard negates Tishi's -1C as of Gold Edition. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 January 2002", 30 Jan 2002 - Q: Actually, I have that backwards. If it never took place it is canceled. If it takes place with no effect, it is negated. :)
A: You're looking at things the wrong way. Canceling is something which can only be done to entire actions. Negating is something which can only be done to effects. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 January 2002", 30 Jan 2002
