Rules Q&A
- Q: Question is, can I pick target which I know will be legal after paying costs or not? Thanks.
A: The Targeting Step comes before the Pay Costs Step, so the choice has to be legal BEFORE you blow up your Personality. Martin Lund, "Rules for 16 November 2004", 19 Nov 2004 - Q: If I play In Search of the Future in a battle with opposed berserkers' controlled by a player with Tenshu Sensei, what happens to their force bonus from the sensei?
I think it gets removed, then immediately regained.
A: No. The +2 Bonus to each opposed Berserker is reduced to a +0 Bonus. The bonus effect is still there, it is just reduced.
If you wanted to actually remove the Bonus, and then introduce the effect anew to your Personality, you'd have to make the Berserker in question ineligible for the Bonus effect, then eligible again.
You could, for example, move the Berserker to another battle where he is unopposed (ending the effect of Tenshu Sensei on him) and then move him back into this battle, opposed (start a new effect of Tenshu Sensei on him for a fresh +2F bonus). Martin Lund, "Rules for 13 October 2004", 19 Oct 2004 - Q: I asked a question about Tenshu Sensei and Senpet Scimitar on October 5th.
Yahoo message ID 54551 on the archve, title [L5R-CCG] [rules] tenshu sensei + Senpet Scimitar
Essentially, the question was this. Berserker + Senpet Scimitar: does it get an extra +1 on the Tenshu Sensei force bonus for being opposed when you have the Scimitar attached?
A: [MARTY] Tenshu Sensei gives the opposed Personality a +2F bonus. Since the Personality is opposed and gets a bonus, that bonus is increased by 1 by the Senpet Scimitar, as per the Scimitar's card text.
