Rules Q&A
- Q: if a card says draw 1 or more cards, do i have to draw all of them from either the top or the bottom of my deck? lets say i get to draw 3 cards, and it doesn't say to draw them from the top of my deck. can i draw 2 from the bottom and one from the top?
A: Tetsu Kama Mura's trait triggers individually to each card being drawn. Effects that have you draw multiple cards at once will trigger it multiple times, allowing you to choose for each card whether you draw it from the top or bottom. Brook Cunningham, "Tetsu Kama Mura", 16 Feb 2011 - Q: also if i start a dual can i draw them from the bottom of my deck, or any combination of top or bottom?
A: I assume you mean creating your Focus Pool, but doing so is not "drawing" and will not trigger Tetsu Kama Mura at all. Brook Cunningham, "Tetsu Kama Mura", 16 Feb 2011 - Q: Hello. If I win a duel with a personality with a weapon attached and I have Dance of Blades in play, can I use Tetsu Kama Mura's trait to draw a card from the focus pool that I put at the bottom of the deck when the duel ended? Thanks a lot.
Dance of Blades Iaijutsu • Kata Limited: Put this card into play in your home. Discard any other Kata cards you control. While this card remains in play, you have the ability: "Reaction: After one of your Personalities wins a duel, if he has a Weapon: Draw a card."
Tetsu Kama Mura Before you draw a card: You may draw it from the bottom of your deck. Limited: Look at the top card of your Fate deck. You may put it at the bottom of your deck.
A: Read this entry in the comprehensive rules.
You will note that step H (Determine Outcome) is well before step K (Duel Cleanup, where focus pools are then sent to the bottom of the deck).
You will not be able to draw any cards that were in your focus pool via the granted Reaction on Dance of Blades. Dan Jacobson, "Dance of Blades + Tetsu Kama Mura", 2 Feb 2010 - Q: http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=66080
Regarding this, Shrine to Fukurokujin does say to draw the card, so I would think that you could in fact draw the card off the bottom of your deck with that holding. Correct?
A: Yup. That one managed to by on a bad copy-and-paste job. It does say "draw," so you can draw it off the bottom of your deck, just like Tetsu Kama Mura says. Martin Lund, "Tetsu Kama Mura and drawing cards", 29 Feb 2008 - Q: 2. take the bottom card of the deck with Shrine to Fukurokujin?
A: It says "draw" so you can draw it from the bottom. Martin Lund, "Tetsu Kama Mura and drawing cards", 29 Feb 2008 - Q: This came up in one of our local tournaments and I had to just scratch my head. Player B is playing out of Tetsu Kama Mura. Before the game starts, Player A cuts Player B's deck. Player B then decides to draw his opening hand from the bottom of the deck. Is this legal?
A: Yes it is legal to do so. His Stronghold is in play and its game text is relevant at that point. That's the same reason why Ratling Strongholds could affect how many Provinces you started with. Drawing from the bottom of the deck at the start of the game should have no impact on the results from a properly randomized deck. Martin Lund, "Tetsu Kama Mura and Opening Hands", 11 Feb 2008 - Q: It is not a sick combo we are just having hard discusion which stardet with Dragon clan stronghold Tetsu Kama Mura and ended in discusion about naming what is drawing and what is not.
In my oppinion you just can't reverse definition of drawing Drawing = to put the top card into your hand but you can't reverse "to put the card into your hand = draw
just like you just can't reverse any definition for example Apple is a fruit but you can't say that all fruits = apple
A: Looking at the top x cards and taking/putting one into your hand is not drawing. Searching your deck for a card and putting it into your hand is not drawing.
Tetsu Kama Mura allows you to draw from the bottom of your deck instead of the top any time you draw a card. This trait is optional.
Is there a specific interaction you are wondering about? Chris Fuchs, "Drawing take 2", 29 Aug 2007
