Rules Q&A
- Q: When The Damned explode to give 5F to the personality they are attached to, are they targeting the personality they are attached to?
A: Under Gold Edition rules, yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 23 October 2001", 23 Oct 2001 - Q: I am a little confused. I checked Oracle of the Void and it looks like that Ravine would exclude any printed action on a card not at the current battlefield.
A: Yes, that's correct. Brook Cunningham, "Legacy: Ravine vs. Halls of the Damned", 20 Jun 2012 - Q: But, logically, cards like Halls of the Damned should work, the action on it is being performed by a person at the current battlefield.
A: I see no basis for that "logic". There is nothing about Ravine's current or old text suggesting that "performing" allows some end-around exemption to its effects. Brook Cunningham, "Legacy: Ravine vs. Halls of the Damned", 20 Jun 2012 - Q: Am I right, that currently, if the action isn't printed on a card physically at the current battlefield, Ravine stops it?
A: Correct, if by "stops it", you mean, "makes it illegal to take" (and that's of course excepting actions that would destroy Ravine or move units to its battlefield, per its text).
However, this question did bring to my attention the unrelated point that in the specific case of Halls of the Damned, at the time of Ravine's printing, Strongholds were not considered "cards". So, Ravine's Oracle text has been adjusted to reflect this. Brook Cunningham, "Legacy: Ravine vs. Halls of the Damned", 20 Jun 2012 - Q: If I'm playing Halls of the Damned and bow a human personality I own to take control of Hida Sozen Exp. 1 and use Wedge on him, do him die at the end o battle?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Hida Sozen Exp. + Halls of the Damned + Wedge", 4 Jun 2007
