Rules Q&A
- Q: Can the combination of Warrens and Are You With Me? (or the Emerald Armor) allow ratling followers to cost zero? Can you apply the "cost 1 less" after the "minimum of 1"?
A: No. The effect of the Warrens of the Nezumi was in effect long before Are You With Me resolved. The effects apply in the order they were introduced to play Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 July 2004", 27 Jul 2004 - Q: If I have 2 Secl. Outposts that I use to pay for a Samurai and then after bringing said samurai into play, attach the Emerald Armor, can I then bring in a 7G Follower for free?
A: [MARTY] Those two Secluded Outposts effects aren't conflicting, so they don't have to be ordered. They both happen simultaneously after the Personality enters play.
You may attach zero, one, or two items / followers at the same time. Your follower and Emerald Armor will attach at the exact same time, so the Emerald Armor won't be in play in time to lower the cost of the follower. Martin Lund, "Rules for 3 May 2004", 6 May 2004 - Q: But what about the Emerald Armor? A perp with -x chi but the emerald armor attached, certainly 'has' chi to spare, since it is known that they won't drop down to death after paying the cost.
A: Costs and effects are distinct animals in terms of dealing with this. When an effect pushes a stat below a floor, you impose the floor on the stat for determining its current value, and move on with the game. When a cost requires you to drop a stat to pay a cost, and a floor keeps your final stat total from dropping by the require amount, you haven't paid the cost. Martin Lund, "Rules for 16 and 17 April 2004", 18 Apr 2004 - Q: As you may all know, the Emerald Armor is now Diamond legal. Also as you may all know, Kakita Toshimoko Exp is Diamond legal due to the soul of proxy effect.
A: A proxy is just that -- a proxy. It is used *in place of* the Diamond Edition card, and it *plays* as the Diamond Edition card. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 20 November 2003", 21 Nov 2003 - Q: I have 3 Zashiki Warashi's and The Emerald Armor attached to one Personality who has a Chi total of 3 and I bow each Zashiki Warashi in succession as my Battle Actions.
Since this personality cannot have his Chi reduced below one, can I still produce the Elemental Actions that would normally lower his Chi below 1 but are prevented from the Armor?
A: Sure. The Chi loss from the Zashiki Warashi isn't an additional cost, just a seperate effect. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 8th, 2003", 8 Aug 2003
