Rules Q&A
- Q: If a pep is targeted by New Emerald Champion she can benefit from the action The Emperor Returns?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 26 March 2004", 29 Mar 2004 - Q: Battle: Give all Personalities with your Clan alignment in your current army +1F/+1C for each Personality in that army with your Clan alignment and either "Champion" as part of any of his keywords, Daimyo, or Hero. So yes, for the Emperor Returns, it would.
A: But that's because of the text of The Emperor Returns. If it just said (as the original text did), "Champion, Daimyo or Hero", then it wouldn't count a Personality with "Clan Champion" but not "Champion" as a separate keyword. But that's because of the changes to the Foo Rule. Previously, a Clan Champion was automatically also a Champion, but that rule was dropped. Keywords are no longer splittable.
