Rules Q&A
- Q: Title The Final Wave Text Limited: If you have no cards in either your Fate or Dynasty deck: Bring all face-up Personalities in your provinces into play, waiving costs and ignoring restrictions.
My friend an I were arguing about this card and we need something to be cleared up about the wording of it.
Does "If you have no cards in either your Fate or Dynasty deck" mean that you can only play it
a) if both decks are empty b) if either deck is empty
A: Either deck. Not both (that would be worded as an "and" statement). Zen Faulkes, "The Final Wave condition", 22 Sep 2008 - Q: The Final Wave: Limited: If you have no cards left in your Fate or Dynasty deck: Bring all face-up Personalities in your provinces into play, waiving costs and ignoring restrictions.
Comprehensive rules glossary, Loyal: A Personality with the Loyal keyword cannot be controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control.
The restriction created by the Loyal keyword appears to be continuous or ongoing, rather than simply an entering play restriction. Am I correct in assuming that if you use The Final Wave to bring into play a Loyal personality from a clan you are not playing, it would allow you to ignore the restriction only until the turn ends, at which point the restriction once again prevents you from controlling the personality?
A: It occurred to me that "cannot become controlled" would be a better way to express this rule in the CR. Made that minor change just now. Roger Giner-Sorolla, "The Final Wave and the Loyal keyword", 29 May 2008
