Rules Q&A
- Q: 2) The Great Climb states that "your cards need not bow to produce ranged attacks but may use each ranged attack action only once during this effect". Would this override the requirement to bow a shugenja for a ranged attack spell such as Cascading Fire?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 November 2002", 8 Nov 2002 - Q: Can Rekai xp2, or any other personality with 3+ chi performing an RA *that does not bow them* (ie with Annekusai's Feather, The Great Climb, etc.) use the Arrow Knows the Way to modify their RA to hit the opposing personality behind their follower?
A: No.
But pay careful attention to the card that lets you shoot without bowing. Some say you don't bow, others say you don't NEED TO bow. For the latter, you still can if you want to. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2002", 9 Apr 2002 - Q: If I fire off Tsuruchi's range 4 attack and then straighten him with Inner Fire can he use his range 4 again when The Great Climb resolves? (if it resolves, and is not destroyed.)
A: Using a Ranged Attack earlier in the battle does not preclude you from using it during the Great Climb's resolution. (Although, as a counterpoint to the first answer, the fact that he's been straightened with Inner Fire will prevent you from voluntarily bowing him to fire during the Terrain.) Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2002", 9 Apr 2002 - Q: 6.- How does the Great Climb interact with bowed and unbowed spells and items?
A: The rule prohibiting bowed cards from taking actions is not lifted by The Great Climb. You may not bow a card to produce a Ranged Attack normally during the battle and then shoot again from a bowed position when this Terrain resolves. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 March 2002", 7 Mar 2002
