- Erratum: Reads, "The Path of Wisdom 0G 3FV Before your End Phase begins, if this card is in your discard pile, you may place it in your hand." [MRP, Lotus Edition, 31 October 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 28
Rules Q&A
- Q: Is returning The Path of Wisdom to your hand considered playing the card?
A: No. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: One of the big culprits of the 'may' clause is the Path of Wisdom, "Immediately before your end phase, if this card is in your discard pile, you may place it in your fate hand." May I choose to let the Path sit for a couple turns (for instance if I'd have to discard anyhow) and on a turn that it's convenient for me to do so, immediately before my End phase, pick it up?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 11 December 2001", 12 Dec 2001 - Q: Card Title: The Path of Wisdom
Text: Before your turn ends, if this Strategy is in your discard pile, put it in your hand.
My question is that If I have 9 cards in hand at the end of the turn, discard Path to Wisdom to lower my hand to 8, does this happen and then Path of Wisdom comes back to my hand or does Path of Wisdom's "before your turn ends" trigger happen BEFORE I have to discard down to 8?
Could I theoretically have 8 cards in hand, then get 3 from my discard to start my opponents turn with 11 cards in hand?
Thanks for taking the time as usual! You guys are great!
Banzai!
A: Discarding happens at the end of your turn, so any effects triggered before the end of your turn will need to be resolved prior to discarding. You'd have to bring The Path of Wisdom back to your hand, then discard down to 8 (but feel free to discard The Path of Wisdom again if you wish) Jon Palmer, "The Path of Wisdom and the Discard step", 23 Mar 2015
