Rules Q&A
- Q: [Jade] if you cast The Phoenix is Reborn after Kolat Duplicate hits a personality, does that mean the next time said personality comes back into the dynasty reveal, it’s no longer zero cost?
A: Yes. None of the affected cards are zero cost or unable to be Proclaimed any longer.
Looking at the current Oracle wording of, and Archived Rulings pertaining to, TPiR, that card is... pretty messed up, unfortunately. It is not currently worded how it's supposed to work, and its contemporary rulings also contradict how effects are currently defined, so straightening all that out could be kind of messy.
But my ruling about its interaction with Kolat Duplicate is correct. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 3 May 2026
