Rules Q&A
- Q: If I played Ungrateful Host, declared an attack, and my opponent used an action to destroy one of my units with 3 attachments on it, from say "The Seventh Tower", how many of their personalities would that person have to dishonor? Would it be 4 since destroying a unit destroys 4 cards?
How about instead of using an action to destroy one of my units, they use an action to destroy one of my personalities which happens to have 3 attachments on it? Would this be 1 then because they are destroying a personality and not the attachments in this case?
A: If Ungrateful Host is in effect and an action is played by the opponent that destroys a personality with three attachments, then the opponent loses 3 honor and dishonors one personality.
If Ungrateful Host is in effect and an action is played by the opponent that destroys a unit with three attachments, then the opponent loses 12 honor and dishonors four personalities.
This is per Using Attachments on attachments leaving play when their Personality leaves play: "This leaving play is a rulebook effect contingent on the effect that took the Personality out of play, so the attachments are destroyed for" (as a consequence of) the original effect, but not "by" the original effect." Doruk Özaydın, "Ungrateful Host", 28 Feb 2008 - Q: Sorry for bringing this up again. The answer still left me with some confusion I think I worded my question poorly.
My stronghold is The Seventh Tower, I have a Crab guy with 4F opposing one 2F personality with a 1F follower in battle. The opponent takes one action to bow my 4F personality.
Can I use the ability on The Seventh Tower targeting my bowed 4F personality to destroy the 3F unit opposing him?
A: Yes, your personality still has 4 force, even though his unit counts for 0. Chris Fuchs, "The Seventh Tower Clarification", 14 Aug 2007 - Q: http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=60506
Just so I don't get a bunch of people misreading the stronghold and since he's probably thinking unit force since he was using the qualifier "total," does The Seventh Tower compare a personality's force against a unit's force or a unit's force against a unit's force?
A: Target personality force is compared to target unit force, just like the card says. Chris Fuchs, "re: The Seventh Tower", 14 Aug 2007 - Q: The Seventh Tower: Does this compare the total force of both targets?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "The Seventh Tower", 14 Aug 2007 - Q: A bowed card in a unit retains its own Force stat; its own Force is not reduced to zero from being bowed.
A: You can find more about that here.
To address your specific example, the Personality's Current Force (which is not affected by him being bowed) is compared against the Unit's total unit force (which is affected by the cards in the unit being bowed). Martin Lund, "The Seventh Tower", 1 Aug 2007
