Rules Q&A
- Q: Does Harbinger of War require you to attach via Open/Battle in order to trigger, or does the attaching via The Spider's Web while coming into play fulfill the trigger? (obviously assuming a weapon of cost 1-4).
A: Unfortunately for The Spider's Web, no. Harbingers of War only triggers a card draw when using an Equip rulebook action, since it specifically only mentions equipping. Other methods of attaching Items and Followers, such as your example, will not trigger the card draw. Ben Higgins, "The Spider's Web + Harbinger of War", 20 Mar 2013 - Q: Might be a noobish question but i need a clarification to the following question.
If i have a glory of the shogun in play (or my opponent or both) and i attach a weapon from my hand via my stronghold's ability does that mean that i will be able to draw a card from Glory of the shogun plus the card for the end of my turn ? Thanks in advance !
Glory Of The Shogun text Until the game ends, equipping is a Battle/Open action (for all players), and after the first time each turn each player attaches a card with a base Gold Cost of 5 or more from his hand, that player may draw a card.
The Spider's Web text After your Personality enters play: You may attach a Weapon to him from your hand, paying all costs but, once per turn, paying 4 less Gold if he is a Kensai.
A: Yes, if it was the first time you'd done it that turn, you would draw a card (or two, if both you and your opponent had resolved Glory of the Shogun) immediately after attaching a Weapon of 5 or more base Gold Cost via The Spider's Web's trait, and you would still get your normal draw in your End Phase.
Even though Glory of the Shogun modifies the Equip ability to Battle/Open, the draw from it is a separate effect and is not dependent upon you using it. Brook Cunningham, "Glory of the Shogun and The Spider's Web", 16 Apr 2012 - Q: I play You Clan Needs You on personality A during a battle and attach a card to him (for example a Weapon with The Spider's Web trait). The battle ends with my side winning and A still alive and equipped. He goes to one of my provinces, but what happens to his attachment?
http://rules.l5r.com/EE_Card_types#Attachments says: When a Personality leaves play, all his attached cards leave play in the same manner as he did.
Since a Fate card cannot be in a province, the rule cannot be applied unless the Fate Hand is considered the equivalent of the provinces for the Dynasty cards. So my question is: is the attachment discarded, or does it return to my hand?
Your Clan Needs You! Battle: If any enemy units are at the current battlefield, choose your performing Personality in one of your provinces: Bring him into play at the current battlefield, paying all costs but paying 6 less Gold. After the battle ends, if he is in play, discard all his attachments and put him face up into one of your provinces, face-up, discarding any card there.
A: At this point, once the Personality returns to the Province you would apply "An attachment that finds itself in play without a Personality is immediately and continually discarded, unless an effect allows this state." Jon Palmer, "Your Clan Needs You and attachments", 21 Feb 2012 - Q: Couldn't find an answer to a simple question using the search function.
If I am playing The Spider's Web Stronghold, can I attach multiple weapons to the same personality when I bring him into play (assuming I can pay all costs)? Since it is a trait I believe I can but I haven't seen anything saying yes or no to one way or another.
The Spider's Web After your Personality enters play: You may attach a Weapon to him from your hand, paying all costs but, once per turn, paying 4 less Gold if he is a Kensai.
A: A triggered trait will produce effects only one for each occurrence of its trigger. Alex Jones, "Spider's Web Stronghold Question", 13 Feb 2012
