Rules Q&A
- Q: With regards to this topic: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=75287
I'm assuming he meant The Utaku Plains: http://l5rsearch.com/db/search.cgi?title=utaku%20plains
In which case, I'm assuming he wouldn't gain the additional 1 honor as the rules wiki states:
He may reduce the Gold cost to play the Personality by 2. If he does not choose to do so, he may choose to gain Honor equal to the Personality's Personal Honor just before he enters play (also know as "buying for Honor"). A player may only gain Honor this way once per turn.
To gain additional honor off of a personality entering play, I'd assume the card would have to explicitly state that personality/personalities in AND out of play have +1PH (eg. Ikoma Asa).
I'm sure Zen will confirm it.
A: Correct. Things that change Personal Honor while in play can't affect gains when buying for Honor. Zen Faulkes, "Cards that affect personal honor and coming into play", 17 Apr 2009 - Q: [Modern]: Do i gain the +1 Honor when Proclaiming while having the SH "The Utaku Plains" from CE in play ? According to the 20f Rules you Proclaim after and not while the Personality enters play, so i would assume yes.
A: Yes, the Plains would affect the PH of the Personality before/when you gain the Honor for Proclaiming them. Very technically, though, you don't Proclaim after they enter play. You choose to Proclaim when Annoucing that you're Recruiting, but the gain is delayed until after they enter play. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 7 Aug 2025
