Rulings
- Foregoing honor gain is a cost of using his ability. [Reversal, DW, 25 December 1996] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 127
- Copies of his ability cannot be used to gain multiple bonuses on the same samurai, because you can only forgo the honor gain once. Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 127
- If you're buying a 0PH Samurai at full price, there is still a zero point honor gain. It can be foregone once to pay for Gaijutsu's ability. [September 1998] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 127
- Ability is Political. [Rulebook] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 127
- Since you must forgo the honor gain to get the stat bonus, his ability cannot be used outside a Dragon Clan deck. [DW, l5rinfo, 12/25/96] [REVERSAL] [Actually, you can use it in a Toturi's Army deck when bringing out a Dragon Clan * Toturi's Army samurai -- jwa] This also means you cannot use copy-effects to gain multiple stat bonuses on the same samurai, since you can only forgo the honor gain once. If you're buying a 0PH Samurai at full price there is still a zero point honor gain. It can be foregone -- again, once -- to pay for Gaijutsu's ability. [l5rinfo, 9/98] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 59
Rules Q&A
- Q: Is Gaijutsu no Shiryo really missing the text 'This card is considered Togashi Gaijutsu for Uniqueness.'? If so will there be an errata or was that done on purpose or has AEG completely forgotten all the cards which are not gold legal?
A: It was done on purpose so there'd be less potential confusion among new players ("Do I have any Togashi Gaijutsus in my deck? Let me check. Was he in Perfect Cut?") and because not printing it gives us a lot more room on the card. Jeff Alexander, "post for 4 December 2001", 5 Dec 2001 - Q: 7. Togashi Gaijutsu If you use the spell Reflecting Pool to give him an ability that targets, he would affect Senai, correct?
A: Correct. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 7 February 2001", 9 Feb 2001
