Rules Q&A
- Q: This question is mainly about Paneki's Disgrace and Bayushi Paneki in CE.
If I have both in my provinces, can I bring Bayushi Paneki and overlay the Disgrace? I'm not sure if the title must be the same to overlay or just the Experienced version.
Relevant Text: Paneki's Disgrace Shadowlands • Undead • Samurai • Tactician • Plague • Experienced 6 Bayushi Paneki • Unique
Bayushi Paneki Scorpion Clan • Clan Champion • Samurai • Tactician • Hero • Experienced 5 • Loyal • Unique
A: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_E#Experienced: "Keep in mind that an Experienced card's alternate title also regulates his or her capacity to enter play and change control.
"Example: A player who controls a Unique version of The Golden Ronin with the keyword “Experienced Matsu Ichi” can not bring the Unique non-Experienced version of Matsu Ichi into play, or take control of another player’s Unique version of “Matsu Ichi.”"
I could just as easily rewrite the example:
"Example: A player who controls a Unique version of Paneki's Dissgrace with the keyword “Experienced 5 Bayushi Paneki” can not bring the Unique Experienced 5 version of Bayushi Paneki into play, or take control of another player’s Unique version of “Bayushi Paneki.”" Zen Faulkes, "Overlaying and Uniqueness", 16 May 2011 - Q: Hello team! Was just getting ready for the Harare Kotei today and wanted to go over a few questions that I believe are going to come up during the games, I checked the FAQ and searched for these and to the best of my knowledge these questions have not yet been asked.
1: If I play Impromptu duel targeting my personality with 5 ch and target my opponent's 3 chi personality my opponent focuses twice and I focus three times. we each only focused 4 fv cards with no focus effects, leaving me with a total of 17 and my opponent with 11. After I gain my honor and his personalty dies what happens?
2: Is the Ban on Mugina Gang going to be in effect?
3: If my opponent and I get into a physical confrontation, since Shadow Plays reads Battle: Give your target Ninja +2f can it target me since I am A: In a "battle" and B "A Ninja." Do I count as my own ninja to meet the text target "YOUR" ninja or would I have to have some sort of ninja minion with me?
4: If my opponent is a Dragon does he start with the imperial favor? No not a human playing the clan, I mean a freakin' scary fire breathing monster sitting across the table from me. I do not believe so but I really do not wish upset one.
5: If my opponent has out Bayushi Paneki XP 3 who has Other players’ hands are face-up. You may take Limited actions as well as Open actions during other players’ Action Phases. Limited: If it is your turn: Target a card in your hand and a card in another player’s hand. Switch them. If I play Mind slaver which has the text 4, T, Sacrifice Mindslaver: You control target player's next turn. (You see all cards that player could see and make all decisions for the player. He or she doesn't lose life because of mana burn.) If I manage to somehow play it, do I get to see my own hand via paneki's ability.
Happy April Fools Day Rules Team
A: Your post is titled "Rules question", so I'm only obligated to answer one.
4. Yes, if he's also using a Dragon Clan Stronghold. But I wouldn't argue the point if he's not playing such a Stronghold. In that case, call a judge. Preferably one without a family. Brook Cunningham, "Rules question", 1 Apr 2010 - Q: OK, so according to this :http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=64251
In Legacy, I have Bayushi Paneki XP2 in play, and I overlay with Bayushi Paneki XP4
Bayushi Paneki trait says : While Paneki is in play, X happens. As he is still considered in play and the effect is ongoing, the trait should still work on the overlay right? So my opponent hand should be still face-up.
Am I getting the rules correctly here?
A: That's it, yes. Zen Faulkes, "Legacy overlay question", 29 Dec 2007
