Rules Q&A
- Q: Torch's Flame Flickers states "Negate the next card effect that bows one or more of your Personalities who is there (at the time)."
If a card effect does something else along with the bowing (like Gold and Steel which also can move the target home), will it also negate the send home? I was unsure since it says to negate the next card effect and not the next bowing.
Also, does it only protect the personalities that were at the battlefield at the time that Torch's Flame was used or if something moves to the battlefield later will it protect it from being bowed if a bow effect is used after the new personality show up?
A: It will only negate the bowing. The bowing and send home from Gold and Steel (in your example) are separate effects and only the bow effect is negated.
"at the time" refers to the time of the bowing, so it does not matter if the Personality was there when Torch's Flame Flickers was played. Jon Palmer, "Torch's Flame Flickers", 3 Feb 2012 - Q: Hi,
My opponent has played "Blanketed forest" (Winter Terrain Battle: The snow blocks travel, negating units' movement to or from this battlefield.)
During the battle, I play "Wolf's little lesson" (Battle: Target one of your unbowed Crab Clan Samurai, or an unbowed Personality you targeted this turn with Torch's Flame Flickers: Until this battle ends, negate the effects of other players' terrains on your Personalities at the current battlefield.) with a crab samurai.
May my personnalities move later during the battle...?
Wolf's LL negate effect on my personnalities from the battlefield, but what about moving costs and effects concerning my personnalities...?
Thanks.
P.S. As a good french my english is quite bad, sorry about that... I hope it's understandable.
A: When an effect or a cost would move a unit to or from the current battlefield, Blanketed Forest negates that effect or cost. Wolf's Little Lesson will negate that negation, but only for your Personalities at the current battlefield. Your Personalities at the current battlefield will be able to move (home or to another battlefield) either as an effect or to pay a cost, but your Personalities not at the current battlefield cannot move to it.
