Rugashi Bazaar text:
Bolded emphasis. It seems to me that Rugashi Bazaar does care when the honor loss occurs according to the text of the card. If Rugashi cared about when the action was taken, wouldnt it read something like 'If you have lost action from an action _that was taken in the action phase_'. If the above ruling was correct, that would mean that something like Bayushi Rentatsu would trigger Bazaar every turn, and that just doesnt seem right to me.
A: Rugashi Bazaar checks when the honour loss happens: it does not care when the action was taken that created it.
The honour loss from Misaki's action does not satisfy the condition in Rugashi Bazaar's ability, since the loss does not occur during the Action Phase, and similarly with Bayushi Rentatsu's ability. Alex Jones, "Bayushi Misaki vs. Rugashi Bazaar", 9 Aug 2012 - Q: Bit of a convoluted example here, bear with me.
I am playing a Scorpion deck that, to the great disappointment of the Kuroiban, has embraced the power of the Shadowlands. I have used an effect to give my copy of Bayushi Rentatsu the Shadowlands trait. I then copy Rentatsu's ability with Kokujin Konetsu Exp. I then bow Konetsu to use the ability he has copied from Rentatsu.
What happens with Konetsu at the start of my next turn? His base ability has a non-specific duration, so it ends at the end of the turn in which he uses it. Does the effect of his copied ability continue such that, though he no longer has the ability from which the effect derived, he may continue to negate his straightening and thereby generate 2 Honor Loss at the start of my next turn?
Relevant cards: Kokujin Konetsu Maho Battle/Open: Target a Shadowlands Human Personality: Choose one of his abilities that does not itself copy abilities. Konetsu copies it.
Bayushi Rentatsu Limited: Bow Rentatsu: While Rentatsu remains bowed, you may negate his straightening and after each of your turns begins, choose a player; he loses 2 Honor.
Edited to clarify which ability I'm referencing in the question.
A: Once an action has been announced, it does not matter what happens to the ability it comes from.
For example, a Personality targeted by The Spirit of Knowledge keeps Tactician even if the Strategy it came from is removed from the game or shuffled back into your deck.
If Kokujin Konetsu copies Rentatsu's ability and uses it, the action will continue to generate honour losses as long as Konetsu remains bowed. Alex Jones, "Temporary Copying of Abilities with Ongoing Effects", 4 May 2012 - Q: About this ruling: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=97661 Wouldn't Rentatsu's honor loss ability be constantly reduced by two if you reacted with Shiro Chugo's Reaction anytime before Rentatsu's initial ability resolves? (i.e. the bowing for the action)
Just curious...
Relavent Texts:
Shiro Chugo Political Reaction: Before an action's resolution, choose your performing unbowed Courtier: Reduce any Honor gain or loss from the action's effects by 2.
Bayushi Rentatsu Limited: Bow Rentatsu: While Rentatsu remains bowed, you may negate his straightening and after each of your turns begins, choose a player; he loses 2 Honor.
A: Shiro Chugo creates an Ongoing Effect - technically an Indefinite Conditional Effect - that triggers each time the original action is about to cause an honour gain or loss, and reduces that gain or loss by 2.
Like all Ongoing Effects with no stated duration, it lasts until the end of turn.
Rentatsu's ability also creates an Ongoing effect, but unlike Shiro Chugo's ability, the duration is specified: "While Rentatsu remains bowed."
Thus, the negation created by Shiro Shugo ends at the end of the turn, and has no effect on Rentatsu's honour losses. Alex Jones, "Shiro Chugo + Rentatsu (Cont.)", 30 Apr 2012 - Q: I looked this up and found no results... If I copy Rentatsu 's Limited action with Asahina Kitiaru, would I hage to keep Kitiaru bowed each turn to continue the copied ability off of Rentatsu or no? I am guessing no, but wanted to get a clarification. Thanks!
A: First of all, Kitiaru cannot copy Rentatsu's ability because it is not Political.
However, in a similar situation, when a Personality copies an ability, references to the original Personality's name become "this card", so the copying Personality would need to remain bowed to keep powering the ability. Jon Palmer, "Copying Bayushi Rentatsu", 29 Apr 2012
