Rules Q&A
- Q: Toshimoko no Shiryo Crane Clan Ancestor. Unique No Reactions can be made to a challenge, refusal, or duel involving this Personality except Reactions that cancel the action or negate the challenge or duel.
Does this mean that no reactions period can be made when a duel or challenge is issued except for actions which would either cancel or negate the issue? So reactions that would be triggered by targettting a personality could not be preformed since those are not reactions which cancel the duel/challenge?
A: Not so. This is similar to the timing with Keen Eye. Targeting the Personality with the Action or Effect typically happens before the Challenge itself. Martin Lund, "Rules for 30 January 2005", 4 Feb 2005 - Q: My opponent's [Personality] challenges my [Personality]. Can I use another personality with Toshimoko no Shiryo to replace the challenged indivudual using Kyuden Doji's ability?
A: Yes (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 9 September 2003", 9 Sep 2003 - Q: Does Toshimoko no Shiryo prevent using effects triggered by winning duels?
A: Yes (card text, and Rules Archive, General Rules, Duels). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 9 September 2003", 9 Sep 2003 - Q: What exactly does [Toshimoko no Shiryo] prevent (or does it prevent only reactions to action creating the duel or all reactions during the duel)?
A: "*No* Reactions" during challenge *or* refusal *or* duel (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 August 2003", 28 Aug 2003 - Q: Can I switch another personality to duel with Kyuden Doji if either of the original participants has 'Toshimoko no Shiryo'?
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 August 2003", 28 Aug 2003 - Q: If someone refuses a iajutsu challenge issued by a personality with Toshimoko No Shiryo attached, can the individual refusing commit seppeku?
A: Yes. Seppuku is not a Reaction. [GE p. 65] Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 May 2003", 21 May 2003 - Q: If someone who has Toshimoko No Shiryo attached wins a duel, can Omoidasu be bowed to gain an extra 2 honor?
A: No. It is used "after this Personality wins a duel," which is during resolution, which is still during the duel. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 May 2003", 21 May 2003 - Q: If I'm playing KD and one of my personalities that does not have Toshimoko [ancestor] attached is challenged to a duel (or starts one or whatever) can I use the SH Reaction to switch in the peep with Tosh no Shiryo attached?
A: Before I answer this, I want to say that it would make it a *lot* easier to answer the question if there were no abbreviations. I mean, KD? Is that Kitsune Diro? Kaze-Do? Kitsu Dejiko? Kolat Duplicate? Kukan-do? Kuruma Date? (Yeah, I figured it out, but I hate having to puzzle over abbreviations. I do that enough in my work.)
Yes, because he's not "involved" until the Reaction completely resolves.
