Rules Q&A
- Q: Is Contested Holding considered a Holding for cards like Trading Grounds and Kakita Hirotada?
A: No. Card types are reserved game terms. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 10 November 2003, Part 2", 11 Nov 2003 - Q: 1. Can I use the trading ground to pay 4 for the ML when it comes in? (Pretty sure yes on this one).
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 4 April 2003", 5 Apr 2003 - Q: Hi List, just wanna be sure about this one:
If I play Trading Grounds for a holding, does it still produce 4 gold......
I think so but ya never know !
A: Sure. Why would it not? Jeff Alexander, "post for 24 January 2002", 24 Jan 2002 - Q: A question for the junta forwarded from the dragon list.

Recently i've been making alot of use of this card since my honor deck has 9 4 cost holdings in it (Kabuki, Sanctified, Hiruma) it's because of this I noticed the wording change on Trading Ground. It appears that the wording's been changed from:
"Bow the Trading Grounds to produce 1 Gold. Bow the Trading Grounds to produce 4 Gold when bringing a holding into play" (not exact since I don't have card infront of me)
"Bow the Trading Grounds to produce 1 Gold. Bow the Trading Grounds to produce 4 Gold when paying for a Holding." (legendary Search)
I'm not sure when this changed if it was in gold or not but my question is this: Since it now sais "...when paying for a holding" does that count for paying the cost of a Sanctified to produce honor since essecially your paying the cost for a holding to do something? if so that would make them very usefull late game in the deck as well.
A: The gold cost of a card's action is not the same thing as the gold cost of the card. You are not "paying for a Sanctified Temple" when you gain honor with it. Jeff Alexander, "post for 9 November 2001", 10 Nov 2001
