- "Spies, infiltrators, even the most trusted men can turn against you," cursed the Daidoji general. "Yes, my lord. Trust no one." With that and a twist of his blade, Osen vanished, and the Sword of the Lion was forever free from the hands of the Crane.

- A warrior prefers the field of battle, because in battle there is truth. The words of a courtier or even a daimyo can be twisted and deceitful. It is better to have truth, even at the end of a sword.

Rules Q&A
- Q: I'm curious in IvE how Treachery and Deceit works. If I have a 7 force guy that's bowed, can I use it on him? Does the unit's force still equal 7 even when not contributing? I know it was yes in EE but I wanted to make sure in IvE.
Text Battle: Move home a target Personality whose unit's total Force is 7 or higher.
A: This is correct. The unit's force is still 7; it merely won't be counted when adding up the army's total force. You can send home a bowed 7F unit. Jon Palmer, "Treachery and Deceit", 7 Feb 2014
