Rules Q&A
- Q: Tsurichi Hiro(Experienced)
"Text Mantis Clan Master Bowman . Samurai . Experienced . Unique . Soul of Tsuruchi Experienced Followers attached to Hiro that can produce ranged attacks have +2 ranged attack strength. Battle: Twice per turn, make a Ranged 2 Attack without bowing. Battle: Bow Hiro for a Ranged 5 Attack. "
Can I take the 2 ranged attacks without bowing, then bow him for a ranged 5 attack?
A: Yes, as explained earlier. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 9 Feb. 2004", 10 Feb 2004 - Q: For a Naval invasion, I play Blackened Skies. I hold 2 Tsuruchi techniques, and an arrow from the woods. Will using one of them as a reaction to boost a range attack end blackened skies, or is that considered generating a range attack?
A: Not allowed. Gold Edition Blackened Skies says, "You cannot take Reactions... unless they *make* Ranged Attacks." Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 14 April 2003, Part 2", 15 Apr 2003 - Q: I don't understand this Rule: 'You cannot combine a ranged attack on an Item with one on the Personality carrying it if the Personality has to bow to make the ranged attack.' This is applied only to items like Jade Bow (the Personality has to bow to make the ranged attack OF THE ITEM) or it affects all items (like Fox Nagamaki + Tsuruchi)?
A: Only to items like the Jade Bow. Jeff Alexander, "post for 31 May 2002", 1 Jun 2002 - Q: Also, do I gain honor if I buy other Yoritomo Alliance personalities for full gold cost (i.e. Tsuruchi)?
A: Of course. Jeff Alexander, "post for 15 April 2002", 16 Apr 2002 - Q: On Tsuruchi and his Soul Of, do they both become Ranged 3s?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 1 April 2002", 2 Apr 2002 - Q: Can you take reactions with cards in play that are not at the current battlefield :
Example: I use Tsuruchi daikyu's ranged 5 attack to target and destroy Kitsune Tokoru's bear, who's defending, and my opponent Reacts with Taming the Beast to negate it's destruction.
Can that spell's reaction be used while not at the current battlefield?
A: Reactions are not bound by the Rule of Location, nor are spells as a card type by default (Battle actions on spells still are). Taming the Beast's reaction can be used from another location. Jon Palmer, "Using Reactions and locations", 20 Feb 2012 - Q: If I'm attacking with a Yoritomo Random at province 1 and with Tsuruchi Random at province 2 and I have the chance to go first on both battles (let's assume it's cause I have naval). If I resolve at province 1 and as my first battle action I attach a item on my Yoritomo peep there and chose not to make a aditional battle action. At province 2 if attach a card to my Tsuruchi peep can I now get a aditional battle action even if that were not my first battle action that attached something?
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "Eastern Hub Port and First Attachment.", 11 Sep 2007
