Rules Q&A
- Q: Uji no Shiryo:Crane Clan Ancestor * Unique * Battle: If there are one or more units in the opposing player's army, bow Uji to give this Personality -1F/-1C and move this unit into the current battle. If you have no units in an army, and you have a Crane personality with Uji no Shiryo attached, can you move that crane personality into the battle using Uji no Shiryo? I would assume yes, but technically, the person is not an opposing player until AFTER the crane personality moves in.
A: Again, this is a card that specifies THE opposing player, which always exists. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 1 March 2004", 2 Mar 2004 - Q: 3) How about Uji no Shiryo? Crane Clan Ancestor * Unique * Battle: If there are one or more units in the opposing player's army, bow Uji to give this Personality -1F/-1C and move this unit into the current battle.
Must be in the current battle to move to the current battle ????? (this sound strange)
A: Uji says "THE opposing player", not "AN opposing player". Since there is no choice, "THE opposing player" always means the Attacker (if you are defending) or the Defender (if you are attacking). [GE p. 74] Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 May 2003", 15 May 2003 - Q: A crane player is facing another crane player. Crane player A has a Doji Reju with a Doji house guard and a Uji no Shiryo attached. Uji no Shiryo battle: If there are one or more units in the opposing player's army, bow Uji to give this personality -1f/-1c and move this unit into the current battle.
Crane player B has a Doji Kurohito
now here is the question. Player A declares an attack and declares no infantry. Player B places his Kurohito in his 2nd province( both players have 4 provinces)
Now player A resolves the battle in province 3 first. Can he bow Uji and move Reju into a province where there is no defending army?
I am pretty sure I know the answer is no, but I just wanted to double check.
A: At Province 3, there are no units in the opposing player's army. Uji can't be used. [card text] Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 February 2003", 21 Feb 2003
