Rules Q&A
- Q: Akodo Tezuka: Lion Clan • Samurai • Paragon Battle/Open: Discard a Card and (blahblahblah)
Per viewtopic.php?p=1073356#p1073356 Tezuka's ability is always a Lion Clan Samurai Paragon Battle/Open ability. If Tezuka has a poison token, and Bayushi Suboru copies Tezuka's ability, is Suboru now a Scorpion Clan Ninja Lion Clan Samurai Paragon? Does this change if Tezuka is dead instead of in play and Kitsu Iwao copies his ability?
A: The definition of Copy has been updated to include this line: The copied ability only has those keywords that are part of the base source ability itself, not any keywords inherited from the source's card. For example, if your Ninja Personality copied a Tactical Battle ability from a Lion Clan Samurai, the ability would only have the Tactical and Ninja keywords, not the Lion Clan or Samurai keywords. Alex Jones, "Keywords, abilities, and copying", 5 May 2011 - Q: Is setting force and/or chi considered a bonus or a penalty?
A: Yes.
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Card_features#S ... to_a_value: "To set a stat to a value, give it the smallest possible appropriate bonus or penalty such that it reaches that value." Zen Faulkes, "Bayushi Suboru and Shameful Injury", 6 Jun 2010 - Q: But after ( Bayushi Suboru) copies an ability, (say from Shosuro Takuma), and uses the ability, is the second ability a ninja action as well?
A: Yes. It is considered "on" the card (http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_O#On). Zen Faulkes, "Bayushi Suboru and ninja actions", 11 Feb 2010 - Q: Is the second ability a base ability?
A: No. For physical cards, "base" means printed (http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_B#Base). Zen Faulkes, "Bayushi Suboru and ninja actions", 11 Feb 2010
