Rules Q&A
- Q: My Crab opponent attacks with 1 personality at a province with the intention of using the guidance, if I use Unstoppable Force on his personality, does that make him unable to use his guidance?
Hida'a Guidance: Battle: If you are an attacking Crab Clan player, the Defender has 2 or more provinces, and your current army's total Force is greater than the current battlefield's province's strength, destroy all your Personalities there and discard this card: Destroy the province and end this battle without resolution.
Unstoppable Force: Battle: Target an opposed unit: Give each Personality and Follower in it +1F. Before the next time this turn another player's effect destroys the unit or a card in it, negate that destruction.
A: Destruction of the unit is a cost of Hida's Guidance, not an effect.
He may still use Hida's Guidance at the province. Dan Jacobson, "Unstoppable Force vs Hida's Guidance", 22 Mar 2010 - Q: In regards to this post:
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=81721
Does this mean that if I use Unstoppable Force and then later in the battle equip a new follower to the unit the new follower will receive the protection as well?
Thanks!
A: That is correct. Dan Jacobson, "Unstoppable Force and attaching / transferring", 12 Feb 2010 - Q: what rule is the basis for such a ruling(?)
A: Not every possible wording of every card can be covered by a rule. Some are just based on the normal reading of English. This is one such case.
And yes, this would mean that a card moved onto the target unit after Unstoppable Force was played could have its destruction negated.
There could be a contrary precedent somewhere. If there is one, I will, as always, be grateful if someone gives a link to it. Zen Faulkes, "Unstoppable Force and attaching / transferring", 11 Feb 2010 - Q: I target my unit with Unstoppable Force, and later that turn I attach or transfer another follower to the unit. (W)ould it be protected from the destruction from another player's card effect?
A: "In it" refers back to that original unit, so if the card is not in that unit, it's not covered. Zen Faulkes, "Unstoppable Force and attaching / transferring", 10 Feb 2010
