Rules Q&A
- Q: If I play flee the darkness in response to Volcanic Fields what happens?
A: Yes. It targets when it resolves. Delayed Terrains don't play like regular actions in their timing. Martin Lund, "Rules for 29 June 2004", 2 Jul 2004 - Q: 1. If my opponent plays Volcanic Fields, can I play "Flee the Darkness" to cancel the destruction of my personality when it resolves? I thought someone said you could, but I'm not sure if it counts as a "Battle Action" for the sake of "Flee"...
A: The destruction is an effect from an Action. It is targeted and another player is doing the targeting. You can cancel the whole thing with Flee the Darkness. Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 April 2004", 11 Apr 2004 - Q: (Bonus question: If *I* play Volcanic Fields, does it change the above answer?)
A: No, another player is still doing the targeting of your Personality with the Action, and that's all Flee the Darkness cares about. (Card text) Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 April 2004", 11 Apr 2004 - Q: Hi Jeff,
Question for you: If Volcanic Fields is in play & my opponent targets one of my personalities when it resolves, can I cancel Volcanic Fields with Flee the Darkness?
A: It's a Battle action. Check.
It's targeted at one of your Personalities or Followers by someone other than you. Check.
If one of your Personalities is targeted, Flee can cancel it. If it's canceled, anything it has already destroyed stays dead. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 20 Feb. 2004", 21 Feb 2004 - Q: Can I react to volcanic fields delayed terrain with flee the darkness?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Volcanic Fields and Flee the Darkness", 3 Apr 2005
