Rules Q&A
- Q: So, considering the recent ruling about things becoming illegal targets in the middle of actions: If I target one of my personalities with Wanton Destruction and two opposing personalities, and I subsequently lose the first duel and play Feign Death on my personality, does my personality get -4F and issue the second duel?
A: Yes, strangely enough, even though he's no longer opposing anyone. All that targeting was kosher all the way up until you ended the first duel, so the effects will still go through, regardless of targeting legality, if they are physically possible. Since both duelists are alive for the challenge, they can go at it. Martin Lund, "Rules for 10 July 2004", 13 Jul 2004 - Q: 2) Oni of Beefiness uses Wanton Destruction and targets Pud A and Pud B. He loses the duel to Pud A, but Feigns Death. Does the Oni still get to duel Pud B or does the Wanton wear off once he died?
A: Once the Oni leaves play, he's an invalid target for Wanton Destruction. Once a card becomes an illegal target for an Action, all that Action's attempts to affect that card will fail (get Negated). It does not matter if you become a legal target again later - even a split second later. Once you go illegal, the Action won't affect you anymore.
Since it takes two to tango, you won't see any second duel happen. However, since your Oni died before it received that -4F penalty, that effect won't happen either.
You win some. You lose some. Martin Lund, "Rules for 13 June 2004", 15 Jun 2004 - Q: Can Wanton Destruction be played in a Battle in which a Shadowlands Personality is opposed by a single Personality beloning to a different player?
A: No. Wanton Destruction tells you to select 3 targets. If you can't target the necessary targets, you can't play the card. Martin Lund, "Rules for 11 April 2004", 13 Apr 2004 - Q: If you win both duels created by a Wanton Destruction, does that qualify you to play the Ring of Fire, or do the Duels have to come from different cards, or with the other player having a chance to play an action in between?
A: You just need to win at least two duels. Wanton Destruction creates two duels. Win both, play the Ring. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: If I use Asahina Sekawa (Experienced 2) to rediect the type of duel (or duels) does the force pentaly still effect force is is move to the trait involled.
A: A different stat is affected. Zen Faulkes, "Wanton Destruction redirection and Asahina Sekawa (Exp 2)", 25 Mar 2005 - Q: there are whole lot of other cards that affect ( give a pental) a stat and then do something base on that stats new value ( shinjo's courage) if you redirect the pentail ( say change to personall honor) does the rest of the affect related to that stat change as well?
A: No; you will continue to use the stats described on the card. It just won't have changed. Zen Faulkes, "Wanton Destruction redirection and Asahina Sekawa (Exp 2)", 25 Mar 2005 - Q: is change the type of pentail rediecting it?
A: No. It would have to use the word "redirect" to do that. Zen Faulkes, "Wanton Destruction redirection and Asahina Sekawa (Exp 2)", 25 Mar 2005
